LSU stars Paul Skenes and Dylan Crews were the first two players off the board during Sunday’s 2023 MLB draft, selected by the Pirates and Nationals respectively. Fresh off their national championship victory over Florida, the Tigers’ two biggest superstars made unprecedented history at the draft.
Additionally, the selections mark just the third time in MLB history that a single school has produced multiple top-three picks in one draft.

Former NFL head coach Pat Shurmur is boosting Deion Sanders’ reboot at Colorado by joining the Buffaloes’ coaching staff.
As relayed by FOX News Digital, Shurmur is heading back to college after 22 years of NFL coaching experience.
Shurmur may not be one of the best head coaches in New York Giants history, but his past work as an offensive coordinator still makes him a desirable personnel hire at the college ranks. He went 9-23 as HC of the G-Men and coached Daniel Jones as a rookie in 2019, concurrent to Eli Manning’s final season for the Giants.

Who says baseball players aren’t tough? Sure, football and hockey players get all the credit in the toughness department. But some baseball players have it, too. And count Colorado Rockies pitcher Kyle Freeland among them.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, San Francisco Giants hitter Brett Wisely laid down a bunt. Freeland tried to field the ball by diving back toward his left. Unfortunately, he landed awkwardly and dislocated his shoulder.
Freeland immediately started screaming in pain.

For the second time in three years, the Pirates held the top pick in the MLB draft. On Sunday night, they took that opportunity to select right-handed pitcher Paul Skenes.
Skenes helped guide LSU to a national championship this past season, the seventh title in program history. He was a finalist for the Golden Spikes award as the nation’s best player, thriving for the Tigers after spending his first two college seasons at Air Force. He went 12–2 with a 1.69 ERA in 19 starts as a junior, striking out 209 batters with just 20 walks over 122 2/3 innings.
