For the first time in 19 years, Minnesota won a playoff game with a 3–1 victory over the Blue Jays on Tuesday in Game 1 of the American League wild-card series. The win marked the club’s first in the postseason since Oct. 5, 2004, snapping the longest streak of playoff futility in North American sports history.

Joe Mauer sent a text on Tuesday morning to Twins rookie Royce Lewis. Take it all in, the Minnesota icon advised the 24-year-old third baseman and designated hitter.
“He said that’s one thing he would do is take it in and don’t regret the moment you’re in,” Lewis told reporters afterward. “And so that’s what I did.”
He certainly did: Lewis hit two home runs to lead the Twins to a 3–1 victory over the Blue Jays in Game 1 of the American League wild-card series. It was Lewis’s first career playoff appearance and his first time homering twice in one game.

Facing heavy criticism following his poor performance against Seattle on Monday Night Football, Giants quarterback Daniel Jones oddly found support from a bitter NFC East rival.
Jones, who threw two interceptions, including one that was returned 97-yards for a touchdown, was under siege the entire game due to abysmal play of New York’s offensive line. In one of the most harrowing events in America’s broken society, an 11-year-old boy faces one count of second-degree attempted murder after shooting two youth football teammates during a dispute. TMZ released the video.
The incident took place Monday evening in Apopka, FL. at 8:30 p.m. After the trio’s Pop Warner football practice, the 11-year-old boy was involved in a dispute with two 13-year-old boys outside of Northwest Recreation Complex.
The video shows a split-second look at the firearm’s burst going off in the youth crowd.
