Lance Blanks, a former NBA player and Suns general manager, died Wednesday in Dallas. He was 56.
Blanks’s family confirmed his death Thursday. The former NBA guard spent three seasons in the league, playing for the Pistons and Timberwolves after being selected No. 26 in the first round of the 1990 NBA draft.
He ultimately served as Phoenix’s general manager from 2010 to ’13 after serving five years as assistant general manager of the Cavaliers. Blanks also worked as a scout and director of scouting for the Spurs.

Petr Klima, a former NHL star and Stanley Cup champion with the Oilers, died unexpectedly at his home in Chomutov, Czechia. He was 58.
The Czech Ice Hockey Federation confirmed Klima’s death. However, the cause of Klima’s death has not been released.
Klima spent 13 seasons in the NHL, playing for the Red Wings, Oilers, Kings, Penguins and Lightning. In the summer of 1985, Klima became the first Czech player to defect directly to North America. He subsequently began his NHL career with Detroit, wearing uniform No. 85 as a nod to the year of his defection.

Iowa State dismissed linebacker Aidan Ralph from the program on Thursday following his arrest earlier this week for a domestic violence incident that took place in December, according to multiple reports.
The program moved on from Ralph, a 20-year-old redshirt sophomore, as he faces charges of domestic abuse and third-degree sexual assault, per Story County court documents obtained by The New York Post. Ralph has been described as causing a stress fracture to his girlfriend’s spine after pushing her into a stairwell and raping her inside his Ames, Iowa, apartment on Dec. 3.

The incident that horrified trophy lovers everywhere happened over the weekend at the NFL Draft. The Chiefs tight end was hosting a music festival called “Kelce Fest” on Friday night. Performers included Rick Ross and Machine Kelly, but by all accounts, people still had a good time.

Suddenly, Auburn may have a quarterback and a coach at the same time.
Bo Nix was the last consistently decent quarterback Auburn had. He started from 2019-21 before transferring to Oregon, where he started and played well last year and is the returning starter.
Auburn tried LSU transfer TJ Finley in 2021 and to start 2022, but after a shoulder injury he never regained his starting job last season. He entered the transfer portal as a graduate this week, but he has not yet found a landing spot.
