Flopping has long been a subject of debate in NBA circles, with various rules to combat the practice being introduced and tweaked over the course of the past quarter-century.
This summer, the league is amending its flopping rules once again to include its toughest in-game penalty yet for the transgression.
In the NBA Summer League, a rule will be tested whereby a flopping call will result in the opposing team receiving one free throw and the ball. The player guilty of flopping will be assessed with a non-unsportsmanlike technical foul.

The Angels have placed center fielder Mike Trout on the 10-day injured list due to a fractured hamate bone in his left hand that he suffered Monday night against the Padres.
The 11-time All-Star left Monday’s game in the eighth inning while after fouling off a pitch from San Diego’s Nick Martinez. The Angels training staff then examined Trout in the dugout before he made his way to the locker room.
“I just took a swing, and something felt uncomfortable,” Trout said, via ESPN. “I can’t describe the pain I felt. I never felt it before, ever, before this.

MLB suffered a huge blow on the Fourth of July after Los Angeles Angeles received an official diagnosis on slugger Mike Trout.
The 31-year-old slugger left Monday’s game against the San Diego Padres at PETCO Park in the eighth inning.
Trout is headed to the 10-day IL after fracturing the hamate bone in the left hand, a significant injury that hampers a batter. Surgery is typically required for the broken wrist injury, with an estimated two-month recovery timeline.

Saturday’s game between the Massachussetts Pirates and Arizona Rattlers ended in mayhem. A brawl amongst players and fans led to multiple suspensions, which were dolled out on Monday.

When news came out that the 2023 Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest in New York was going to be canceled on Tuesday due to lightning, the now-16-time champion Joey Chestnut apparently was not willing to let it happen without some pushback.
Chestnut was reportedly heard saying quite the one-liner about the status of the competition.
“I’m gonna get the rest of the guys out and we’re gonna do this f—er,” Chestnut reportedly said, according to Kenneth Heasley.

The Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest has become a staple in July 4 festivities. The contest, however, was set to be canceled due to rain and lightning at Coney Island, as WABC-TV reported.
Fortunately, after major outrage from fans across social media and the hope that a turn of events would occur, ESPN revealed that the contest was not canceled and it would start at 2 p.m. ET. suffering just a delay instead.
