The Mets walked off with a win on Wednesday, courtesy of a 10th-inning moonshot home run from star slugger Pete Alonso.
After a back and forth battle with the Rays, Alonso ended things with one swing of his bat, launching a three-run shot off Pete Fairbanks to lift New York over Tampa.
In doing so, Alonso joined some elite company in Mets history. According to NYM Stats on Twitter, the slugger is now tied for the most walk-off home runs in franchise history, joining the likes of Chris Jones, Kevin McReynolds, Cleon Jones, Mike Piazza, and Wilmer Flores with four such hits.

Victor Wembanyama is widely expected to be the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NBA draft, a selection owned by the Spurs following Tuesday night’s draft lottery. 
While it’s been a foregone conclusion that Wembanyama will be the first name off the board on draft night, some members of the 2023 draft class don’t necessarily see it that way.
Scoot Henderson, who is projected by most as the No. 2 selection, still hasn’t lost hope that it’ll be him and not Wembanyama who ends up being the first pick.

French basketball sensation Victor Wenbanyama was thrilled that the first overall pick of the 2023 NBA draft didn’t go to Houston.
All eyes were on Tuesday’s NBA lottery as the No. 1 overall pick was destined to score Wenbanyama — a “LeBron James-esque” rookie capable of flipping a franchise’s fortunes.

“Superstar” Billy Graham, one of the most charismatic pro wrestlers of all time, has died at 79 years old, according to fellow wrestling legend Ric Flair.
Graham (real name Eldridge Wayne Coleman) died Wednesday after being taken off life support and spending most of his time in the hospital this year. He was initially hospitalized in January with an infection in his ears that spread to his ear bones and skull. Graham was battling numerous health issues that included acute kidney failure, congestive heart failure, diabetes, and hearing loss.

Padres third baseman Manny Machado posted a career year in 2022, slashing .298/.366/.531 for a San Diego team that advanced to the NL Championship Series for the first time since 1998.
However, Machado has been unable to return to form so far in ’23. On Wednesday, a frustrating season went from bad to worse, as manager Bob Melvin announced that Machado has sustained a small fracture in his left hand.
Machado exited the Padres’ 4-0 loss to the Royals on Monday after being hit on the left hand with a pitch with the bases loaded in the fourth inning.

Yankees starting pitcher Domingo German was ejected from Tuesday’s game against the Blue Jays after umpires assessed that he was using an illegal foreign substance. Due to the nature of his ejection, German was slapped with a 10-game suspension from MLB.
On Wednesday, the 30-year-old released a statement in which he revealed his next course of action following the 10-game suspension. 
German said that he does not intend to appeal the suspension due to the fact that the decision would be made by MLB rather than a neutral arbitrator.
