Victor Wembanyama towers above Anthony Edwards in a dominant performance to help San Antonio defeat Minnesota (Ronald Cortes)
Victor Wembanyama scored 27 points as the San Antonio Spurs moved to within one win of the NBA Western Conference finals with an emphatic 126-97 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday.
French star Wembanyama was back in the Spurs line-up after escaping a suspension for his ejection in game four on Sunday, when he smashed an elbow into the throat of Minnesota’s Naz Reid in a heavy defeat.
Last month Cori Close led the UCLA Bruins to the program’s first-ever NCAA national title and this month the Bruins head coach penned a long-term extension to stick around Westwood for the long haul.
It’s not surprising news. Close has been UCLA’s head coach since 2011 and hasn’t expressed any interest in leaving the Bruins. The new extension will keep Close with UCLA through the 2029-2030 season, and according to the California Post’s Ben Bolch, the new deal will make her one of the highest paid coaches in the country.

Two days after the Sixers were unceremoniously booted from the playoffs by the New York Knicks, Daryl Morey is out as President of Basketball Operations for the 76ers. It ends a six-year tenure in Philadelphia that featured early flashes of brilliance and great draft success before the franchise ultimately settled into the dreaded middle.
ZEELAND – Nothing like a rivalry showdown to get aces a little more amped.
Zeeland East’s Mason Raade and Zeeland West’s Logan Nash were stellar as they squared off on the mound.
Both pitched well enough to earn a win, but of course, only one would get it.
Raade allowed one run and the Chix defeated the Dux 2-1 in the first game of the doubleheader. Zeeland East won the second game 12-2.
“It gets me pumped (when my opponent is pitching well),” Raade said. “Throwing strikes has been the key for me this year. I have a great defense behind me.
