It’s a slow day in sports, outside of playoff baseball, so let’s turn our attention to the NBA preseason, which, believe it or not, is already underway.
Tuesday night’s face-off between the New Orleans Pelicans and Houston Rockets featured some fireworks when Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado and Rockets forward Amen Thompson were tangled up in a small fight.

Points to Alvarado, who at 6-feet challenged the 6-foot-7 Thompson, the latter of whom is known for his fiery attitude.

Less than a week after their season ended in an American League Division Series loss to Toronto, the Yankees have made several changes to their coaching staff.
According to league sources, the team is promoting hitting coordinator Jake Hirst to the major league staff, moving on from longtime bullpen coach Mike Harkey and first base/infield coach Travis Chapman, and discussing a new role in the organization for beloved assistant hitting coach Pat Roessler.

Levi Rodrigues got a contract offer from Dana White – and a “thank you.”
After several minutes of being pushed against the fence, Rodrigues (6-0) knocked out Freddy Vidal (4-1) with a knee and punches 3:20 into their Dana White’s Contender Series 86 bout.
After the win, Rodrigues thanked White through the cage. White responded, “All right, thank you. He was stinking up the place. Thank you. Yeah, you saved us.”
