It’s that time of year again. The time of year when SEC fans, coaches, and commentators absolutely lose their minds in an attempt to get their favorite teams into the College Football Playoff.
The campaign is off to a flying start in 2025, with Vanderbilt Commodores head coach Clark Lea essentially saying, inaccurately, that SEC teams should get priority over other conferences.

Steve Sarkisian, the head coach of the Texas Longhorns, went as far as worrying about the sanctity and quality of the sport.
NOTE: I’m not a doctor … thus there is no Hippocratic Oath holding me back from assessing this Giannis Antetokounmpo injury like an online NBA blogger.
On Wednesday night, the Greek Freak went down in the opening minutes of a game against the Pistons. It was a non-contact injury, deemed a “calf strain,” and Antetokounmpo was quickly ruled out.
In the video, Giannis didn’t leave in tears or sharply drop because of the strain, though he looked disappointed after his clunky drop.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback and LSU icon Joe Burrow won’t say whether he’s looking forward to the Lane Kiffin era at his alma mater.
The coaching move that rocked college football still produces a ton of reactions in the aftermath, and Burrow can see all the arguments in plain view, with his adept QB vision.

Following Real Madrid’s emphatic 3–0 victory over Athletic Club, Fede Valverde spoke to the media , highlighting the collective performance and the spirit within the squad.
“I’m very happy to be part of this team, it’s an honor to have these teammates and to keep improving as a team,” Valverde said.
Valverde also singled out the team’s second goal—a sweeping move that carved through Athletic’s structure. “The second goal was spectacular, a beautiful move in which most of the players were involved,” he noted.
The Washington Commanders and Minnesota Vikings issued their first injury reports ahead of their Sunday matchup at US Bank stadium.
On Wednesday afternoon, the BBN got their first chance to hear from their new head Kentucky football coach, as Will Stein was introduced at Nutter Field House.
It was also one of the times this year we will get to hear from UK athletic director Mitch Barnhart.
After the introductory press conference, Barnhart also fielded some questions from the media surrounding NIL and the JMI situation with UK Athletics. A question that has been danced around for some time, what better chance to get a solid answer?
Not this time.
LSU and Austin Thomas are going their separate ways, according to a Wednesday report from FootballScoop. The move comes just days after LSU hired Lane Kiffin as the Tigers’ next head football coach.
Thomas’ official title at LSU was Senior Associate AD / Football Administration, but Thomas served as the de facto general manager for LSU football.
Thomas and Kiffin have worked together before. Both were at Tennessee and when Kiffin left the Vols for USC, Thomas followed. The pair later worked together at Ole Miss.
