The wave of conference realignment seemed to reach a crescendo a few years ago with the collapse of the Pac-12.
The USC Trojans, UCLA Bruins, Washington Huskies and Oregon Ducks joined the Big Ten. Stanford and Cal, two teams located near the Pacific Ocean, joined the Atlantic Coast Conference. Colorado, ASU, Arizona and Utah went to the Big 12. Along with Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC, it seemed like the major programs were set for the foreseeable future.

Atletico Madrid Femenino player Andrea Medina was taken to hospital after suffering a head injury during the Champions League tie against Juventus in the Spanish capital on Wednesday night.
Medina was treated on the pitch for more than five minutes after staying down following a sliding tackle near the corner flag in the 73rd minute of the match at Centro Deportivo Wanda Alcala de Henares.
She was put in the recovery position by the assistant referee, who was feet away from the incident, and treated on the pitch by medical staff before being taken off on a stretcher.
