Tim Anderson will never live down getting KO’d by Cleveland Guardian Jose Ramirez. On Sunday, MLB fans were treated to another glorious callback to the brawl; a fight that saw Anderson start a conflict with Ramirez at second base but unable to finish It.
Ramirez responded by knocking Anderson out cold with a right hook. The rest of MLB evidently has not forgotten.
Facing off against the Detroit Tigers, the Guardians honored future Hall of Famer Miguel Cabrera. A group of Cleveland personnel, including Ramirez, gave Miggy a custom guitar.

One of the more interesting position battles in the NFL this preseason is Baker Mayfield vs. Kyle Trask. The two quarterbacks are fighting to start the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Week 1 game in Minnesota against the Vikings. Head coach Todd Bowles says he hasn’t made a decision, yet.
But all signs point to Mayfield starting and Trask serving as the backup.
Kyle Trask started the Buccaneers preseason game against the New York Jets on Saturday. He played the entire first half. John Wolford took over but suffered a serious injury and left the field on a stretcher.

Speith struggled to finish strong at the BMW Championship, which means a trip to Atlanta for the Tour Championship may be out of reach.
Jordan Speith shot a 1-over 71 on Sunday at the BMW Championship. That score may not seem bad, but for the former Texas Longhorn, it could mean his season is over.
The 30-year-old could miss the Tour Championship in Atlanta next week. He is flirting with the bubble as he fluctuates from No. 29-30th on the FedEx Cup rankings.
Veteran umpire Ángel Hernández has been a longtime target of criticism from players and fans alike for missed or bad calls. So it’s no surprise that, when he made a very questionable (to put it generously) strike call during Sunday’s game between the Braves and Giants, fans were quick to mobilize and call him out.
With Atlanta pitcher Max Fried facing San Francisco’s Thairo Estrada, Hernández awarded a strike on a Fried pitch that was well outside the digitized strike zone shown on the broadcast.
As the Yankees’ season continues to spiral, manager Aaron Boone shared that he met Sunday with managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner and general manager Brian Cashman, who told the skipper they are “frustrated.”
“We understand we’re in a tough spot, and it’s not going well,” Boone said, according to MLB.com. “We’re in the business of trying to fix it and trying to [determine] what are the best moves moving forward for us to try and get us on track.”
Before their Sunday matchup with the Red Sox, the Yankees sat at the bottom of the AL East with a 60–63 record.
An 18-0 fourth quarter run led Team USA to a 99-91 victory in final World Cup tune-up
Anthony Edwards scored 34 points to help Team USA come back vs. Germany and pass its final test before World Cup play begins.
As the owner of the richest contract in NBA history, Jaylen Brown has many reasons to be thankful heading into his eighth pro season, a fact the Celtics star made clear with a classy gesture this offseason.
Brown, who inked a record $304 million supermax extension in July, has already publicly expressed the ways he plans to give back with his massive deal. But, as it turns out, the two-time All-Star also expressed his gratitude for the contract privately by sending personalized letters to every media member who voted him to the All-NBA team last season.
The PGA Tour season is winding down. Last week’s FedEx St. Jude’s Championship represented the first of three playoff events. This week, the BMW Championship is the second event and penultimate tournament of the season. Only the Top 50 players in the FedEx Cup standings qualified for the BMW and only the Top 30 make it to next week. Tyrrell Hatton is right on the bubble.
Hatton entered the BMW Championship in 26th place. So, he was in great position to make the Tour Championship.
Hatton played perfectly even through three rounds.
This is the last season of the four-team format for the College Football Playoff. With precious few spots, these are the dark horses that could break into the CFP field.
