Quarterbacks rule everything in the NFL, including the draft.
Of course, it doesn’t hurt when there is major intrigue at the position going into the draft. That is certainly the case this year, as there are four major quarterback prospects projected to come off the board early on draft weekend.

1. In a week when it seems like all hell has broken loose when it comes to covering sports, we’d like to thank Stephen A. Smith for providing us with the levity we so desperately needed.
On the latest edition of his Know Mercy podcast, the performance artist extraordinaire gave us quite a segment breaking down the first pitch that singer Megan Thee Stallion threw out at last Thursday’s Astros opener.
“I mean, that white outfit she was wearing was pretty nice,” said Smith. “She looked pretty nice in that.

Veteran quarterback Brian Hoyer signed a two-year deal with the Raiders his agency confirmed Tuesday, paving the way for the longtime Patriots signal-caller to reunite with Josh McDaniels.
Hoyer will make way to Las Vegas and bring an end to his third different stint in New England, the most recent of which spanned from 2020 to ‘22. The NFL journeyman spent the majority of that time as a backup to Cam Newton and Mac Jones, making just two starts and seven appearances across the three seasons.

The race for Champions League qualification from the Premier League seems at the moment to be governed by two immutable laws: Even after all this time, Tottenham will always find new forms of ineptitude with which to disappoint its fans and amuse the rest of the world; and Tottenham must always be in the top four.
Antonio Conte’s reign as Tottenham manager had ended during the international break, his postmatch rant after his side had thrown away a 3–1 lead to draw 3–3 with the Premier League’s bottom side, Southampton, proving the final straw.

One week later, last Wednesday, Randle rolled his left ankle so severely that, beyond his inability to stand for nearly a minute, the Garden crowd of 19,812 collectively gasped when the replay was shown on the jumbotron.

As a programming note, we’ll roll out the Monday Afternoon Quarterback on Tuesday mornings for the rest of the offseason. It won’t change much, other than when you get it. And with that, let’s go …
• The Colts kicked off the week with a contingent in Southern California, working out both Alabama QB Bryce Young and Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud. These workouts have to occur, by rule, either on campus or near the player’s hometown. That Young and Stroud are both from Southern California and doing their draft prep there made it easy for Indy to knock both out at once.

Shannon Sharpe warns that First Lady Jill Biden wanting to invite both the LSU and Iowa women’s teams to the White House could cost her husband the 2024 election.
He says “Doctor” Jill is playing with fire by hoping the losing, predominantly white Iowa team joins the winning, predominantly black LSU team in visiting her and Joe.
Sharpe predicts such strategy will turn black voters against Biden, to a degree great enough to cost him his re-election bid.

Don’t expect to see Jorge Masvidal strapping on the gloves against Jake Paul.
There was a time when Masvidal seemed interested in cutting it up against Jake Paul. In an infamous Instagram post that is no longer up, the UFC star ranted (via Daily Caller), “Listen, man, you can’t f**king afford me…You can’t afford me to come over. Let me tell you a little secret about me you didn’t know. I fight for money or to fight the best in the world, and you’re neither.”
Now, it sounds like Masvidal couldn’t care less after Jake Paul lost to Tommy Fury.

Major League Baseball wants more people to watch its games and have implemented new rules to speed up the length of nine innings in hopes of improving its product. However, the MLB has neglected one of its biggest issues — TV blackouts.
Unlike the NFL, which generally works to provide nationally televised games in relation to in-market audiences, professional baseball teams have their own regional networks that broadcast games. If you are not in the right market, it’s unlikely that you can get that game on your TV.
