Murray State became the latest regional No. 4 seed in the NCAA baseball tournament to join the super regionals party on Monday.
The Racers, who emerged out of the winner’s bracket of the Oxford Regional, fell to No. 10 Ole Miss on Sunday night to force the winner-take-all, if-necessary game for a spot in the super regionals. But it was Murray State who prevailed Monday, becoming only the 10th 4-seed ever to win a regional, according to the ESPN broadcast.
Murray State defeated Ole Miss 12-11 in a barnburner on Monday, holding on despite blowing a 12-3 lead in the seventh inning.

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — Ex-captain Kane Williamson has again rejected a central contract with New Zealand Cricket and likely will miss the Black Caps two test tour to Zimbabwe next month.
Williamson also decided not to accept a central contract last year, to leave himself free to play in Twenty20 and other leagues around the world. He instead signed a casual contract last year and still played in nine of New Zealand’s 13 tests in 2024, scoring more than 1,000 runs.
The Oklahoma Sooners national championship pursuit came to an end on Monday night with their 3-2 loss to the Texas Tech Red Raiders. After NiJaree Canady kept them scoreless for six innings, Sooner Magic struck again in the top of the seventh when Abigale Dayton launched a two-run home run to right-center field. It seemed like the Sooners were going to pull off the remarkable once again.
But Texas Tech responded with a little magic of their own and pulled a Sooners on the Sooners.
A former San Francisco 49ers draft pick has found a home in the UFL.
Pita Taumoepenu, a sixth-round choice of the 49ers in the 2017 draft, was named to the all-league team in the United Football League where he plays for the St. Louis Battlehawks. The All-UFL squad was announced Monday.
Taumoepenu has spent the last two years in the UFL . This season he led the spring league with 7.5 sacks, up from his 5.0-sack performance last season.
This is a nice landing spot for Taumoepenu who struggled to find his footing as a pro in the NFL.

The Colorado Rockies reached their 10th win of the season on Monday, which was also the second day of June. And it took a miserable Miami Marlins loss, 6-4, to help the Rockies finally cross double digits and start piling up wins, which they struggle mightily to do.
“Starting the week with a dub!” the Rockies’ social admin posted.
The Rockies owed their win to Hunter Goodman’s two homers, which snapped Colorado’s eight-game win streak.
Dec. 11, 2021 was one of the most shocking days in MMA history.
At UFC 269, Julianna Peña pulled off one of the biggest, if not the biggest, upsets in history when she stopped all-time great Amanda Nunes and took her UFC women’s bantamweight crown. Nunes entered the fight on a 12-fight winning streak, a run that spanned six years and eliminated any debate on who’s the greatest pound-for-pound female fighter in MMA history. Few expected Peña to win, yet she marched forward and out-slugged the Brazilian to eventually lock in a submission.
