Three New Orleans Saints rookies were fouled almost $23,000 in fines after last week’s Carolina Panthers game. The NFL announces these fines one week after games, but this was an expensive Saturday for all involved.
Left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. was fined $11,593 for taunting, an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Banks earns a weekly game check of about $49,411 so that took up about a quarter of his pay. He was fouled for stepping over a Panthers opponent after blocking him upfield and throwing him to the ground, which is something the league has cracked down on.

Barcelona have offered an update on Andreas Christensen’s fitness after he was ruled out of Sunday’s game against Villarreal due to injury.
The Dane was a late withdrawal from the travelling squad after sustained a problem in training before the match and it’s now been revealed he’s suffered a partial ACL tear.

“The first team player Andreas Christensen has a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee as the result of an unfortunate twist of the knee in Saturday’s training session.
The Big Ten had a litany of games on Saturday, highlighted by a handful of marquee matchups for the league. The biggest was in Indianapolis, as Purdue and Auburn tangled.

The Boilers were favored heading into this one, but the team even outperformed those expectations, as Purdue scored a 28-point win over the Tigers. While the game was competitive in the first half, it turned into an absolute rout in the second half thanks to a quality defensive effort.

Braintree Town have signed Arsenal midfielder Harrison Dudziak and Millwall defender Ben Drake on initial one-month loans.
Dudziak, 19, has played seven times for the Gunners’ under-21 side, scoring once, after joining their academy in June 2016.
Drake, 20, joined Millwall’s under-21 set-up last year having come through the Sheffield United academy.
Both are available for Sunday’s National League fixture with Hartlepool.
Muharemovic: ‘Not worried’ about Italy, McTominay ‘made my head spin’
Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemovic is not worried about potentially facing Italy in the World Cup play-off Final and admits Napoli’s Scott McTominay is the best player he’s faced in Serie A so far: ‘He really made my head spin.’
Bosnia and Herzegovina international Muharemovic does not fear meeting Italy in the World Cup playoff Final next year. The two countries are on the same side of the draw, but Italy will play the semis against North Macedonia, while Bosnia will visit Wales.
