Trailblazer: Longtime CCISD AD Brenda Marshall announces retirement after 39 years

Longtime Corpus Christi ISD athletic director Brenda Marshall will retire at the end of June, the school district announced in a release on Friday.
Marshall, a 1973 Ray graduate, has been with the district since 1986, serving as CCISD’s athletic director since 2004, becoming the district’s first female athletic director.
She was honored as the 2024 recipient of the Jody Conradt Award, presented annually by the Texas High School Coaches Association to a female coach “who has shown unwavering commitment to the advancement of girls and women in athletics.

Dolphins sign LS Joe Cardona

The Dolphins signed long snapper Joe Cardona, the team announced Friday.
The Patriots released Cardona last month after 10 seasons and 160 career games.
He has recorded 13 special teams tackles and one forced fumble.
Cardona also has played 13 postseason games and won Super Bowls LI and LIII with the Patriots.
He entered the NFL as a fifth-round selection by New England in the 2015 draft. Cardona played collegiately at Navy (2011-14), appearing in 51 games in four seasons. He was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Navy Reserve.

Former Patriots 10-year LS Joe Cardona signs with AFC East rival

Fans won’t have to look far to find former longtime New England Patriots long-snapper Joe Cardona. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Friday, the Miami Dolphins have reportedly signed the two-time Super Bowl champion.
It’s a solid move for the Dolphins bringing in a veteran player with 10 seasons under his belt. Cardona has been one of the more consistent long-snappers in the league with plenty of big-game experience.
There weren’t many fans of the Patriots’ decision to cut Cardona, but the motives of newly-hired coach Mike Vrabel are clearly understood.
