While most of you were sleeping last night, NASCAR star Denny Hamlin was getting buried by Speedway Motorsports President (SMI) Marcus Smith on Twitter.
Or was it the other way around? I reckon it depends on who you ask.
In a wild – and since-deleted thread – Hamlin and Smith sparred in front of the entire internet over the news that Sonoma Raceway was coming apart at the seams.
Why is that news? Well, Smith – the SMI president – is overseeing the repave on the iconic California road course.
Norby Williamson’s time at ESPN reportedly has come to an end.
Williamson was accused by Pat McAfee – the new face of ESPN – of sabotaging his show since joining the network back in January. McAfee quickly doubled down by referring to Williamson as a “rat.”
The verbal offensive sparked a reported massive internal power struggle (read a great breakdown from Bobby Burack here) behind the scenes at ESPN, and there’s now a clear winner.
It’s not Norby Williamson.

Jordan Spieth had a whirlwind of a day at the Valero Texas Open, which featured an ace, double bogies, and more.
For his first 15 holes, Jordan Spieth felt very frustrated at TPC San Antonio, and rightfully so. He was 4-over through 15 holes and on the brink of making it impossible to make the cut.
But as Spieth explained afterward, he feels his golf swing is in a better place than his recent scores indicate.
At least a Super Bowl team would be in Dallas …
The Chiefs saw their stadium renovation plans go up in smoke this week after voters in Jackson County rejected a measure that would continue to support the team with public tax funds. It’s led to speculation about whether the team will relocate, with a move out into the Kansas City suburbs, or even across state lines into the Kansas side of the city being the most-likely outcomes considering the team has absolutely no leverage.
Tiger Woods only completed 43 holes during the 2023 Masters before withdrawing from the tournament after re-aggravating a plantar fascitis injury. Given that prospect, Father Time being undefeated, and the myriad of injuries and surgeries he’s endured, there’s always a cause for concern of his body not holding up over the course of 72 holes, and the same rings true ahead of the Masters next week.
Augusta National is one of the most grueling walks in professional golf, especially if you don’t have any mobility in one of your ankles, which is apparently the case for Woods.
Fans better be ready to throw down some serious cash if they want to see Caitlin Clark play in the Final Four.
South Carolina plays NC State followed by UConn/Iowa in the women’s Final Four Friday night, and it’s without question the most hyped women’s Final Four in the history of the sport.
The buzz around it is truly awesome to see, and there’s one main person responsible for moving the needle:
Caitlin Clark.
Well, fans hoping to catch the action will have to shell out big money.
The Women’s Final Four, Caitlin Clark…it’s all the buzz in the world of sports right now.
But will the Women’s Final Four be buzzing this weekend about the hottest topic in women’s sports? Probably not.
One of the things I used to love about covering the Women’s Final Four (in my previous life as a daily newspaper journalist) was that writing about all of the great games over that final weekend was just the half of it.

After a difficult Australian Grand Prix, Mercedes seems on the front foot heading into the weekend at Suzuka
Two weeks ago Mercedes endured a brutal Australian Grand Prix.
If Friday at Suzuka is any indication, the Silver Arrows might deliver a strong bounceback at the Japanese Grand Prix.
The team left Melbourne battered, bruised, and without anything to show for their efforts Down Under. Lewis Hamilton’s day ended early as his W15 suffered a failure after just 15 laps.

The Huskies know they can’t stop Clark, but they’ll try to make the game on Friday as difficult as possible.
UConn women’s basketball has become plenty familiar with defending elite scorers during its NCAA tournament run.
In the second round, the Huskies went up against Syracuse’s Dyaisha Fair, who finished her career third on the women’s Division I all-time scoring list. In the Elite Eight, they faced USC’s JuJu Watkins, who set the women’s freshman scoring record.
