I woke up with a spring in my step this morning because we’re just two days away from the start of one of the most magical two months on the sports calendar.
Sure, I wasn’t as thrilled a couple of days ago when my Flyers blew their shot at a surprise postseason appearance, but I’m over that (sort of) and I’m ready to fill out my bracket, crack a beer, and kick back for some playoff puck.
We won’t know what all of the Western Conference first-round matchups will be until after Thursday night’s games, but the Eastern Conference matchups are set.

Gooch has bought into LIV Golf’s 54-hole tournament structure and destroyed typical tournaments.
LIV Golf’s 2023 individual champion, Talor Gooch, dropped another hot take.
While some fellow players, like Legion XIII captain Jon Rahm, would not mind going to 72 holes, Gooch believes the format should not be adjusted, per Bunkered.
Even Phil Mickelson exclaimed he would not be shocked to see LIV Golf expand their tournaments to 72 holes.
“It’s funny to me, this arbitrary number of 72,” Gooch said.

These prospect can’t miss in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The NFL draft is days away and there will be big hits and awful misses.
It happens every year. There will be future superstars selected and there will be straight-up busts. The annual NFL crap shoot makes and breaks front-office people across the league. They spend the offseason trying to figure out how to stay employed.

It’s not official yet, but it sure as hell looks like the Arizona Coyotes organization plans on moving one state due north and playing in Salt Lake City beginning next season.
And their fans are understandably not pumped about it.
All signs point to the Arizona Coyotes leaving Arizona where they’ve played since the then-Winnipeg Jets moved there in 1997. This is all thanks to a well-documented struggle to find an NHL-caliber arena to play in, which left the ‘Yotes playing out of Arizona State’s Mulett Arena.

The college football transfer portal window opened at the perfect time this week for players looking for a new home, thanks to the NCAA adhering to a new policy.
Just when you thought we’d seen it all with the transfer portal, the NCAA finally had to make the move to allow an unlimited amount of transfers for a student-athlete.
The NCAA Division I Council approved the move on Wednesday that will allow players to transfer to a different school and not have to sit out a year, like the previous rules stated.

Star pitchers are going on the injured list for extended periods of time at an alarming rate. It’s the worst kind of problem: One with no clear and immediate solution.
The sport of baseball — and this includes not just Major League Baseball but all levels of the sport — is in a serious pickle at the moment.
