For a few weeks at the start of the 2024 college football season, it looked like the USC Trojans could be College Football Playoff contenders. A win over the LSU Tigers, dominant shutout victory over Utah State, and then a fourth-quarter lead on the road against the defending champion Michigan Wolverines.
But USC found a way to lose that Michigan game, and after a bounce-back victory over the Wisconsin Badgers, have lost three consecutive games against Minnesota, Penn State and Maryland.

The NFL says players must not gamble but, let’s be honest, there are friendly wagers that do not involve money among teammates and friends that are allowed. And we might have just seen the best one from Colts teammates DeForest Buckner and Tyquan Lewis.
Buckner, you should know, attended Oregon.
Lewis attended Ohio State.
Oregon beat Ohio State a couple of weeks back.
See where this is going?
Buckner on Wednesday made Lewis, his Indianapolis Colts teammate, pay the price for his alma mater’s failure against Oregon a couple of weeks ago.

Tuesday was a big day in the NHL with all 32 teams in action, but there was also some big news with the Panthers offered their head coach Paul Maurice a contract extension.
This was a no-brainer, and the team announced the news just before puck-drop against the Minnesota Wild.
And how did the Panthers celebrate their coaches’ multi-year extension?
By completely laying an egg against the Minnesota Wild.
The Wild opened the scoring with a pair of first period goals, and it was all Minnesota from start to finish as they breezed to a 5-1 win over the defending Stanley Cup champions.

The United Nations is facing increased pressure to take action against transgender participation in women’s sports after a new study revealed that nearly 900 medals have been lost to biological males.
The study — titled “Violence Against Women and Girls in Sports” — revealed that by March 30, 2024, more than 600 female athletes in more than 400 competitions have lost more than 890 medals in 29 different sports.
The report was compiled by Reem Alsalem, the U.N.

ESPN doesn’t just pay NBA insider Brian Windhorst the big bucks to have him pop on various shows across the network and talk x’s and o’s and games around the league. The network pays him to collect and share inside intel about the biggest stories in the NBA, and more often than not, those involve LeBron James.
LeBron headlined the NBA’s opening night on Tuesday as he shared the floor with his son, Bronny James, during the Los Angeles Lakers‘ win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Kansas City gets their outside receiver, while Tennessee gets to start their rebuild
The NFL trade deadline is rapidly approaching, and ahead of the Nov. 5 deadline the Kansas City Chiefs made a move to restock their rapidly depleting wide receiver room.

It’s happening: Titans and Chiefs are working to finalize a trade that would send WR DeAndre Hopkins to Kansas City, league sources tell ESPN. pic.twitter.
