Shohei Ohtani picked up his second American League MVP in the past three seasons on Thursday, winning the award in a unanimous decision.
Longtime Angels teammate and three-time MVP Mike Trout took to social media with a message of congratulations for Ohtani after the award was announced.
“Congrats on an epic year and well deserved MVP. Proud of you, brother!” wrote Trout on X, alongside a photo of himself and Ohtani.
Between Trout and Ohtani, the Angels have had five of the past nine American League MVP winners. During that span, the team has made the postseason just one time.

Running back Saquon Barkley and the New York Giants are in a long-term and very public contract spat.
The Giants, like most NFL teams, don’t want to shell out big money and a long-term contract for a running back. In Barkley’s case, especially, since he’s going to be 27 years old before next season.
He’s already in his fifth NFL season and closing in on 1,100 carry carries in the league. Add in his 270 career receptions, and we’re talking about a back that might reach 1,500 career NFL touches by the end of this season.

Aberg’s familiarity with the RSM Classic’s Plantation course allowed his strong play to continue in PGA Tour’s finale.
Rain or not, no one can put out Ludvig Aberg’s fire.
The PGA Tour rookie fired off a bogey-free 5-under 67 to sit tied for fourth after 18 holes at the RSM Classic on St. Simons Island, Ga.
Players had to deal with two rain delays on Thursday. The first pushed back start times, and the second abruptly stopped play early in the afternoon.

Leave it to Kirk Cousins to show his younger teammates about the music of yesteryear. Had it not been for him, Justin Jefferson would have no idea who Creed was.
At least not the band…
For some reason, this has been the fall of Creed, and I’m here for it. I don’t know what kind of post-grunge sorcery those guys have been conjuring as of late, but teams that rally Creed music go places.
At least until they show up in person, in which case, they lay an egg that night, but go on to win the World Series.

Winning an MVP award is one thing. Winning your second career MVP award is quite another.
Winning your second MVP award while celebrating with your best friend in the whole world, however, is something else entirely.
Angels designated hitter and pitcher Shohei Ohtani did just that Thursday, gleefully celebrating his unanimous victory by high-fiving his beloved pooch.
The dog waited patiently as Ohtani was introduced alongside his fellow finalists: Rangers shortstop Corey Seager and second baseman Marcus Semien.

Take the outfits from Zoolander and attach them to hulking NFL athletes. If you’re into that kind of thing, you may want to consider being a Ravens fan.
The Baltimore Ravens may be No. 1 in the AFC North, but their players’ pre-game outfits appear among the worst in the league.
Ravens players certainly made a case for worst-dressed Thursday afternoon: showing up in parachute pants, an outfit stolen from a Michael Jackson world tour and more confusing pants.
By the way, Baltimore’s social media proudly posted these intros, thinking they were doing the players a favor.

Ronald Acuña Jr. won the 2023 National League MVP Award on Thursday night, adding another prestigious honor to his résumé this year. He was a unanimous selection, earning all 30 first-place votes.
This is the Braves outfielder’s first time winning the NL MVP, although he won the NL Rookie of the Year Award back in 2018.
In 2023 alone, Acuña was named the NL Player of the Month twice (April, June), he earned his second Silver Slugger Award and he received the most National League votes for the All-Star Game to become one of the starting outfielders.

One of the few remaining hurdles for the Oakland A’s to move to Las Vegas was cleared Thursday when the 30 MLB owners voted unanimously to approve the team’s relocation.

It’ll mark the first relocation for Major League Baseball since 2005 and moves one of the 30 teams out of a top media market to a much smaller one. There’s any number of reasons why the organization is leaving, chief among them the ownership of John Fisher. Fisher, whose net worth is estimated at $2.
