Coaches decided to call off Saturday’s preseason matchup between the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars after Miami wideout Daewood Davis went down in the fourth quarter with a head and neck injury.
Players gathered around Davis before he was stretchered off the field.
The game was suspended with the Jags up, 31-18, and eight minutes left in the game.

JACKSONVILLE, FL – AUGUST 26: Wide Receiver Daewood Davis #87 of the Miami Dolphins warms up before the start of a preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at TIAA Bank Field on January 26, 2023 in Jacksonville, Florida.

With a return to the NFL delayed until 2024, Buccaneers starting center Ryan Jensen will continue to explore options in his recovery from multiple knee ligament tears in 2022. And, according to a new report, the offensive lineman has already experienced unique methods in lieu of surgery.
According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, Jensen, who was placed on season-ending injured reserve Saturday, opted to forego reconstructive surgery to repair the three torn ligaments, choosing instead to receive a series of stem cell treatments.

Elly De La Cruz showcased his stunningly strong arm during Sunday’s game against the Diamondbacks, miraculously throwing out star outfielder Corbin Carroll to deny him what would have been an inside-the-park home run.
After Carroll blasted a hit to the wall in center field, the ball was misplayed by Reds’ T.J. Friedl. Arizona’s third base coach Tony Perezchica waved Carroll home, but the 23-year-old was gunned down by the relay throw from De La Cruz, which registered at nearly 100 mph, clocking in officially at 99.7 mph.

Just moments before California’s Louis Lappe hit a towering home run over the left field fence, giving his team a dramatic 6-5 walk-off victory over Curaçao to win the Little League World Series, ESPN broadcaster Karl Ravech noted that Curaçao had “not allowed a home run at the World Series.”
Some might call that a jinx. California calls it heroic.
“Challenged him and this game is over,” exalted Ravech. “Louis Lappe does it again. California, your Little League World Series Champs on a walk-off home run.

Benches cleared during the Yankees–Rays clash on Sunday after Randy Arozarena was hit by a pitch from Albert Abreu in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Arozarena took exception to the inside fastball from Abreu, nearly slamming his bat in frustration before turning to face the mound and attempt to approach the pitcher. He was held back by home plate umpire Adam Beck, but the outfielder continued to jaw at Abreu, who eventually began chirping back.

The Little League World Series Championship game featured a matchup between the top team from the international side — the Caribbean region team from Willemstad, Curacao — and the top team from the United States side — the West region team from El Segundo, California.
California faced the Southwest region team from Needville, Texas in the United States final. In their previous matchup, Texas defeated California (3-1). But, the West champions won the game that matter, a 6-1 victory in the United States final, to reach the championship game.

It’s a heated day at Tropicana Field. The failing New York Yankees are in town to take on the Tampa Bay Rays and Rays outfielder Randy Arozarena is stirring up drama.
Arozarena was plunked in the bottom of the eighth inning by Bombers reliever Albert Abrea, with the Rays up 6-4.
Abreu’s fastball to the ribs, on a 3-1 count, set Arozarena off. It didn’t take long for the outfielder to start barking at the Yankees reliever, which sparked a benches-clearing altercation.

Despite Team USA’s opening 99-72 victory over New Zealand in the FIBA World Cup, Brandon Ingram voiced his frustration over lack of playing time in an interview with Joe Vardon of The Athletic on Sunday.
The talented NBA power forward, who averaged a career-high 24.7 points per game last season with New Orleans, is unhappy with his playing time in the international competition.
“This is totally different than what I am used to,” Ingram told Vardon. “The team is winning right now, so I can’t be selfish thinking about myself.

Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan released a heartfelt statement of support for Duval County after the horrific, ‘racially-targeted” shooting on Saturday near Edward Waters University.
