Matt Rhule thinks coaching major college football isn’t that different from being a member of the mafia.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers and Rhule are currently 5-5, and travel to Madison Saturday to play the 5-5 Wisconsin Badgers. The winner will become bowl eligible.
As sad and pathetic as it is to say, there’s something on the line for both teams, which are also both terrible. These are just the facts, and I say that as a Wisconsin man.
He knows the stakes, and Rhule doesn’t think it’s that different from being whacked if things go south in the mob.

The defending National League pennant winners will have a new look next season. 
The Diamondbacks revealed four new uniforms on Friday that will be worn during the 2024 season. The new looks include an off-white home uniform, a gray road set and black and “Sedona Red” alternate jerseys. 
The biggest changes are to the home uniform, which was previously pure white with “D-Backs” across the front. The new home uniform is an off-white color, which the team says is closer to what Arizona wore in its inaugural season in 1998, with the franchise’s capital A logo on the chest.

Burrow’s wrist has sparked a lot of conversation, but there’s something simple here.
Joe Burrow’s wrist injury is a very big deal. We don’t yet know its severity, but if Burrow is forced to miss any time it will effectively end the Bengals season. Now at 5-5, there’s no margin for error — especially with a fairly difficult seven games remaining on the schedule, many of which are against AFC North opponents.
Aside from Bengals fans, there was significant angst on Thursday night when Burrow was forced to leave the game.

I have been a little shocked at the question over the last week.
“How important is it that a head coach be at the game on game day, if he gets to coach the team at practice all week?”
Uh, Duh!
It is hugely important.
And Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh will be hugely missed when the No. 3 Wolverines (10-0, 7-0 Big Ten) host No. 2 Ohio State (10-0, 7-0 Big Ten) a week from Saturday (Noon, FOX) in the game of the year.

Major League Baseball announced that the 2025 All-Star Game will take place in Atlanta, GA. It’s a course correction from the nonsensical, illogical decision to move the game out of the state because of Georgia’s “restrictive” voting laws in 2021.
League commissioner Rob Manfred made the announcement Thursday, awkwardly and quietly admitting he was wrong to cave to left-wing pressure two years ago.

The world was a little brighter in the Bay Area two weeks ago.
The flowers smelled a little sweeter. No clouds were obstructing the Golden Gate Bridge. The Athletics were still an Oakland-based baseball team. And most importantly, for our purposes, the Warriors were 5–1 after a thrilling, last-second win in Oklahoma City, announcing themselves as an early contender.
Since then… well, that’s why we’re here today.

The races are tightening across the NFL, making each game all the more important.

Lions coach Dan Campbell addressed the coaching opening at his alma mater, Texas A&M, on Friday, marking his first public comment since rumors linked him as a candidate to become the school’s next coach.
Campbell sidestepped a question about whether or not Texas A&M reached out to him, but he made it clear he is not a candidate for the position.
“Maybe,” Campbell said when asked if the Aggies reached out to him. “But that’s all good. Certainly I know some people there, and I love my school.
