The most interesting headline to come out of Notre Dame’s 58-7 blowout win over Pittsburgh didn’t come from anything that happened on the gridiron. Instead, the most intriguing news involved the Fighting Irish’s Leprechaun.
For the first time in Irish football school history, Notre Dame’s iconic mascot was a female. Kylee Kazenski, a member of the upcoming ‘24 class, roamed the sidelines as the human good-luck charm at Notre Dame Stadium.

While the early season hype that surrounded the Colorado football program has quieted significantly as the end of October nears, the ability of Travis Hunter remains crystal clear.
Colorado’s star two-way player made his presence felt on the defensive side of the football with an acrobatic first quarter interception against UCLA on Saturday night.
Hunter, who was locked up in man coverage on the outside, read UCLA quarterback Ethan Garbers’s eyes and jumped in front of Bruins receiver Logan Loya for the ridiculous interception.

Boxing fans were stunned after Tyson Fury earned a controversial split-decision win over Francis Ngannou at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Ngannou, who was making his boxing debut, took Fury the distance. The former UFC champion looked ready to hand Fury, the WBC heavyweight champion, his first career loss. The victory appeared in hand, especially after he sent Fury to the mat in the third round with a vicious left hook, earning the only knock down in the fight.

The Miami Hurricanes may have exorcised that no-kneel loss to Georgia Tech three weeks ago.
If you remember, and Miami coach Mario Cristobal sure does, the Hurricanes had a chance to run out the clock with a simple quarterback kneel for a 20-17 win over Georgia Tech on Oct. 7. Instead, Cristobal let quarterback Terry Van Dyke hand off to running back Donald Chaney Jr., who promptly fumbled it to Georgia Tech with 25 seconds left at Tech’s 26-yard line.

I think we all kind of knew this was the case, but now it’s officially official: NHL great Joe Thornton has retired.
While it wasn’t the most extravagant retirement announcement ever, it was perfectly on-brand for the man they call Jumbo.
On Saturday, the San Jose Sharks — the team with whom Thornton spent 15 NHL seasons — shared a video message from their old captain (even if it was taken away unceremoniously, but that’s another story).

The Purdue Boilermakers probably won’t take home many positives from their loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. But this insane catch from Jayden Dixon-Veal will make that list.
Facing a 3rd-and-15 from the Nebraska 29, Boilermakers quarterback Hudson Card flushed to his right and looked for options down field. Dixon-Veal scrambled to get himself open, and rushed towards the near pylon.
Card’s throw could have been a better, but Dixon-Veal didn’t care. Most receivers wouldn’t make the effort to go for this ball, but Dixon-Veal did.

Louisville’s 23–0 domination of Duke on Saturday kept the Cardinals toward the top of the pack in the Atlantic Coast Conference championship race—while simultaneously making first-year head coach Jeff Brohm richer and more secure.
The Cardinals’ seventh win of the season automatically added another year to Brohm’s contract, extending him through the 2029 season. If Louisville (7–1) gets to 10 wins this season, it will add a second bonus year to the deal and extend him through ‘30.
