We all know that New York Rangers captain Jacob Trouba isn’t afraid to make a hit if he needs to — and even sometimes when he doesn’t — and he did just that on Tuesday night with a massive check on Montreal Canadiens defenseman Justin Barron.
However, it ignited a debate over whether or not it was a clean check.
The Rangers visited the Canadiens on a full night of NHL hockey with all 32 in action (how wonderful was that, by the way? It was like Christmas and several birthdays rolled into one) and this one was all Rangers.

Plus, who’s the least impressive first-year NFL head coach so far this season?
Another weekend of fantastic NFL action has come and gone and because the powers that be insist… we had another doubleheader on Monday night.
But we are through Week 7 and there is a whole lot of where we are that does not match what we thought this season was going to look like. Last week brought us two superstar wide receiver trades and the bigger one (in name) didn’t do anything to impact the weekend’s results.

Welcome to the Kansas City Chiefs’ chase for a three-peat, DeAndre Hopkins.
The defending Super Bowl champions and the NFL’s only undefeated team is addressing its biggest roster need by acquiring the former Pro Bowl receiver from the Tennessee Titans, an NFL source confirmed to OutKick.
The trade is not yet complete at the time of this writing, but both sides are confident it will be worked out. Hopkins goes from a team in last place to a club chasing its third Super Bowl title in a row.
ESPN was first to report the deal.

With the Los Angeles Rams sitting at 2-4 on the season and occupying the basement in the NFC West, they fall into the group of teams that general managers around the league are keeping a close eye on as potential trade partners ahead of the November 5 deadline. Former offensive player of the year and Super Bowl champ Cooper Kupp appears to be the name many teams are circling.
This past weekend, NFL Network insider Ian Rapaport reported that teams have been calling the Rams inquiring about the wide receiver.

Marcus Mariota played his best football in years in Week 7.
As any NFL season progresses, there will be more unheralded players who rise up from humble beginnings to become factors, and guys whose careers have gone sideways who somehow find the road back to relevance.
We like to celebrate these players every week in “Secret Superstars.

Well, the NBA returned Tuesday night. Can you feel it? Forget the NFL or college football, or that pesky World Series.
The NBA is back, baby! And with it, came LeBron James … AND Bronny James. My God. There are now two of them in the league at the same time. If junior somehow virtue-signals like his dad – hell, even if he can do it halfway – the league is in excellent hands for the next decade or two social justice-wise.
But I’m not here to rip Bronny James. Not today. Not this morning.

Alpine is hoping to build off what they learned in Austin at this weekend’s Mexico City Grand Prix
Alpine took a small step forward last week in Austin.
The team brought a series of upgrades for the A524 to the Circuit of the Americas, and the result was their strongest qualifying session of the season. Piere Gasly stormed into Q3 — often topping the timing sheets in both Q1 and Q2 — and ultimately qualified in seventh.

Kate Magdziuk shares her Week 8 wide receiver rankings for standard scoring leagues and highlights several streaming options.
Welp… Week 7 was kind of a bust at the wide receiver position; can we get a re-do? There were several season-ending injuries suffered in Week 7, unfortunately, including those Tampa Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin, out for the year with an ankle injury, and San Francisco 49ers Brandon Aiyuk, out for the year with a knee injury.
