It has been 25 years since MLB added teams, but with the Athletics expected to move to Las Vegas, the idea of expansion is back in the conversation. While Las Vegas appears to be off the table as an expansion candidate, there are other cities without a major league team that could be an option if MLB does decide to expand.
In an anonymous player survey conducted by The Athletic, one of the questions posed regarded the best cities for expansion.

Be gone, side piece! New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson must have friends at Twitter HQ. As of Tuesday afternoon, pornstar Moriah Mills’ account has been suspended by the social media platform.
Rather than having to insert ‘Moriah Mills’ into your search engine, here’s the proof:
For the uninformed or pure of heart, Williamson has endured a controversial back-and-forth with Mills after the pornstar came out alleging cheating allegations after Zion announced the expectancy of his first child with girlfriend Ahkeema on June 6.
A coach at any level has to know the essentials: teach, lead and argue calls. Not even a live interview stopped TCU baseball coach Kirk Saarloos from doing just that on Tuesday. While the Horned Frogs coach was in the dugout during his team’s College World Series matchup with Oral Roberts, duty called.
Saarloos was in the middle of an interview with the ESPN broadcast team in the top of the fifth inning when he could have sworn that he witnessed a missed balk. Without skipping a beat, he told the broadcast team, “Hey, I’ll be right back guys. Let me dunk ’em.
Shohei Ohtani’s future with the Angels is a hot topic within MLB circles.
The 28-year-old two-way star, who will become an unrestricted free agent after this season, could end up suiting up for a new team in 2024, on what would likely be a record-setting contract.
Ahead of his impending free agency, The Athletic polled MLB players from 22 different teams, asking them where they think Ohtani will be playing in 2024.
There was a runaway favorite among the polled players, with more than 57% of the field indicating that the Dodgers are Ohtani’s most likely landing spot.
For Mikal Bridges, NBA draft week brings back mixed memories. In 2018, the 76ers selected Bridges with the 10th pick. For Bridges, a Philadelphia native who played college ball at Villanova, it was a lifelong dream … right up until the 76ers completed a draft day trade that shipped him off to Phoenix.
“It was just wild,” recalls Bridges. “Phoenix [was] probably one of the last teams that I thought I was going to go to. I didn’t talk to anybody and I didn’t know nobody, honestly, there besides probably [Devin] Booker, because we were in the same high school class.
Oral Roberts was on the wrong end of a balk call during Tuesday’s College World Series elimination game that resulted in a run scored for TCU. There is a lot of debate as to whether the call was warranted.
It went down in the top of the fourth inning. The Horned Frogs had a runners on second and third.
Josh Caravalho, a sophomore with more than 50 innings under his belt in 2023, was on the mound for the Golden Eagles. He was pitching to outfielder Austin Davis with two outs.
The balk was called on his 18th pitch of the afternoon.
For the first time in well over a decade, the Philadelphia Flyers are overhauling their home and road sweaters… kind of… a little bit.
The Broad Street Bullies unveiled their new duds on Tuesday morning and there’s a definite Lindros-era flavor to them.

The biggest change is that the Flyers are switching their shade of orange. They will go back to the burnt orange they used in the 1980s and ’90s.
A reporter thinking he was onto something asked LSU coach Jay Johnson a question after the Tigers lost 3-2 to No. 1 Wake Forest on Monday at the College World Series.
These things happen at the CWS, Final Fours or College Football Playoff games. Not everyone knows a lot about all the teams, and there were eight in Omaha to start.
“I was sort of curious.
Patriots cornerback Jack Jones pleaded not guilty to multiple weapons charges Tuesday in East Boston Municipal Court.

Following his arrest, he was charged with two counts of possession of a concealed weapon in a secure area of an airport, possession of ammunition without a Firearm Identification Card, unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm and possession of a large-capacity feeding device.
A company led by Josh Harris, who has reached an agreement to buy the Commanders — and Arctos Partners, a sports private equity firm, have become minority investors in Joe Gibbs Racing.
