We are officially one month into the MLB season, and it’s safe to say starting pitching has been very difficult to navigate so far. The league ERA is currently at 4.30 through this first month of the season as compared to 3.96 in 2022. If you had a stud that blew up this week (Julio Urias, Shohei Ohtani, Dylan Cease), don’t panic. Regression seems to be making the rounds.
In the meantime, it can’t hurt to have some extra arms on your bench. Those who lost Robbie Ray will also want to grab some of the young talent that’s widely available.

One of the surprises of the first round of the NFL draft on Thursday night came when the Jets selected Iowa State outside linebacker Will McDonald IV.
Many did not expect the Cyclones product to go to a team with as much depth as the Jets have at linebacker, but when asked about the selection in his media session after the pick was made, Jets coach Robert Saleh explained that drafting McDonald had a lot to do with Aaron Rodgers.
“You know how we play [on defense], we come at you in waves,” Saleh said. “We dress 10 guys on gameday [at linebacker].

The first round of the NFL draft on Thursday night had all sorts of fireworks, with big trades, surprising picks, and one big-name QB still wondering when he will finally hear his name get called.
If you watched any of the coverage then you might have noticed something that many other fans picked up on—the walk from the backstage area to the podium where Roger Goodell waits for each prospect seems like a very long journey.
The setup for the draft has the backstage area inside the historic Union Station, which was built in 1914.

Where might Will Levis, Hendon Hooker, and Joey Porter Jr. land?
Oh dear reader.
You thought that with the first night of the 2023 NFL Draft behind us, we were done with mock drafts for a while.
We are not. Not by a long shot.
We were warned in the buildup to Thursday night to expect the unexpected, and that is exactly what panned out. Sure the night began with an expected selection, as the Carolina Panthers drafted Alabama quarterback Bryce Young. But then everything went off-script.

NFL fans were left in a state of confusion after the Detroit Lions drafted Jahmyr Gibbs 12th overall Thursday night.
Gibbs was a standout player for the Crimson Tide, but most fans didn’t expect him to go as high as 12th overall in the first round.
Well, the Detroit Lions pulled the trigger and now have a stacked RB room with D’Andre Swift and David Montgomery. However, fans were very confused as to why the Lions made such a pick.

Jalen Carter, Christian Gonzalez, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba stand out as night-one steals
NFL draft fans love the idea of a “steal.”
Of course, steals are in the eyes of the beholder. With 32 teams, each having different draft boards, needs, and roster decisions, a steal in the eyes of one fanbase could be a reach in the eyes of another.
Still, every night of the NFL draft offers opportunities to take advantage and strike while the iron is hot.

During ESPN’s NFL Draft coverage on Thursday night, analyst and former NFL safety Louis Riddick made a comment that included the words ‘Indians’ and ‘chiefs.’ While what he said was a little odd, it doesn’t make him or what he said offensive or racist, despite some folks on Twitter and Sports Illustrated attempting to insinuate that after the fact.
The moment came after the Arizona Cardinals selected Paris Johnson Jr. with the sixth-overall pick.
