Inevitably, at some point before the July 15 deadline, the Giants and Saquon Barkley will come to some kind of agreement on a contract or a tender. Barkley is more valuable to the Giants’ brand than the average running back, and the Giants’ desire to be the kind of place that keeps likable, highly drafted folks around for as long as possible is also above average.

The Miami Marlins beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 10-9, on Wednesday night with one of the more bizarre walk-off wins you’ll ever see.
In case you missed it, Marlins shortstop Joey Wendle hit a grounder back to the pitcher with two runners on and one out in a one-run game. St. Louis’ Jordan Hicks fielded the ball cleanly and threw it to first to try to get the easy out.
The only problem? Hicks threw it a mile over the first baseman’s head and the ball got so far away from everyone that two Marlins runners were able make it all the way to home to end the game in dramatic fashion.

What’s the anticipated carry split between David Montgomery and rookie Jahmyr Gibbs? Montgomery should get the lion’s share of the carries, particularly on early downs; he should be in line for 200-plus carries again.

The Miami Marlins scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning Wednesday night to beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 10-9, in a thriller.
That all happened while their starting third baseman, Jean Segura, watched from the clubhouse after he was ejected in the bottom of the seventh inning when he found a hilarious way to complain about a called strike that was clearly outside of the zone.
MLB umps have had a rough season and that continued with this call on Segura by Jeff Nelson.

In what is shaping up to be a tough season in St. Louis, the Cardinals found a brutal way to lose Wednesday night
The Miami Marlins defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in walk-off fashion Wednesday night, by a final score of 10-9.
For the Cardinals, it might have been the worst way to lose a game imaginable.
A two-run home run from Jordan Walker gave St. Louis a 9-8 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth inning, and St. Louis brought in relief pitcher Jordan Hicks to close out the win.
But it did not go that way.

Natasha Cloud thinks Enes Kanter Freedom should mind his own business when it comes to criticizing her.
The Washington Mystics WNBA player has been taking serious heat from people after calling America “trash.” Not only did Natasha Cloud not back down from her offensive and insane claim, she later doubled down targeting the police, religion and declaring her critics were racist.
Enes Kanter Freedom, who routinely stands up for the oppressed, offered to buy her a plane ticket to a totalitarian country, but it doesn’t sound like she’ll be taking him up on the offer.

Paige Spiranac will not be in attendance at the annual American Century Championship.
The ACC gets underway July 12 in Tahoe, and will feature some huge names like Steph Curry, Charles Barkley and Tony Romo and other major celebrities involved with the world of sports, according to Golf Digest.
However, Paige Spiranac will not be there and the reason why is a big mind-boggling. She posted on her Instagram story that she was invited back because she didn’t draw enough attention.
“Was told I didn’t give them enough exposure on social media.

Nationals manager Davey Martinez took issue with the antics of Reds rookie Elly De La Cruz on Wednesday.
While otherwise complimentary of Cincinnati’s emerging star, Martinez voiced a complaint over the gesture De La Cruz made after hitting a home run in the fifth inning.
“I love the way he plays the game,” said Martinez, via Andrew Golden of The Washington Post. “I didn’t like his antics after he hit the home run. We can do without that. He’s only got two weeks in the big leagues. But he’s gonna be a good player.

Hornets rookie and 2023 No. 2 pick Brandon Miller has gotten off to a slow start during the NBA Summer League. Two games into his Summer League career, and Miller has left plenty to desire with his play on the court.
In particular, fouls have plagued Miller early on. The former Alabama standout has racked up 15 personal fouls in just two games, something only allowable due to the Summer League’s rules. In those two games, he has 24 points, nine rebounds, 10 assists and 10 turnovers. He totaled just six points on four shots during Wednesday’s loss against the Warriors.

Cincinnati Reds phenom Elly De La Cruz cannot be stopped.
Any attempt will be seen as ‘poking the bear,’ which umpires and Washington Nationals did on Wednesday before he shut them up.
In the third inning of the Reds and Nats game, Washington manager Dave Martinez and the umps interrupted De La Cruz’s at-bat after noticing a small cover on the knob of his baseball bat.
The cover was designed for a swing tracker, but the umps asked De La Cruz to remove the piece despite contacting MLB to verify permission for the bat cover.
