Home teams salvage splits
Suns fans were sweating yesterday when the officiating crew for Game 2 against the Clippers was announced.
Hockey players are DIFFERENT.
Hockey players are a different breed when it comes to playing through the pain. On Tuesday night Morgan Barron of the Winnipeg Jets took this to the extreme, after he was brutally cut in a collision on the ice.

Barron was crashing the net in the first period when he was shoved from behind.
After dropping Game 1, the Cavaliers rebounded in a big way on Tuesday night against the Knicks, rolling to a 107–90 win to even the series. Given the blowout nature of the game, a late attempt at a chase-down block by Jarrett Allen on Julius Randle raised questions on both sides of the matchup.
With the Cavaliers up 23 with just over 2:20 remaining in the fourth quarter, the Knicks star forward went up for a dunk in transition. Cavs center Allen attempted to block the dunk, taking Randle down in frightening fashion under the hoop.
Rather than hide from his mistakes, Edmonton’s rookie goaltender has used them to fuel his growth as he tries to help push the Oilers on a Cup run.
Being a hitter in Major League Baseball is hard enough these days with pitchers throwing all sorts of filthy stuff that moves across the plate at the last second and causes batters to look silly.
Which makes what the Diamondbacks’ Nick Ahmed did in Tuesday night’s game against the Cardinals even more impressive: he hit a pitch that didn’t even make it to home plate.
For real.
Ahmed was somehow able to hit a ball that bounced well before the plate and knocked in a run with a wild double into left field.
In a highly contentious Game 2 in the West’s first-round playoff matchup between the Suns and Clippers on Tuesday night, Phoenix evened the series at one game a piece with a 123–109 win. The series now heads to Los Angeles.
Chris Paul broke the “Scott Foster Curse” with a well-rounded performance, while Kevin Durant and Devin Booker combined for 63 points on 24 made shots.
Paul has been part of his fair share of tough matchups against Clippers star Kawhi Leonard throughout his career, dating back to Leonard’s time in San Antonio and Paul’s time with the Clippers and Rockets.
The NBA considers referee Scott Foster to be one of the league’s best officials. However, Foster and Suns point guard Chris Paul have unceremonious history dating back to 2014.
Up until Tuesday night, Paul had lost 13 consecutive playoff games officiated by Foster. The curse was finally broken in Phoenix’s 123–109 win over the Clippers in Game 2 of the first-round series.
Paul was asked about breaking the curse in the postgame press conference and had a classic response.
“I ain’t notice,” Paul said sarcastically, trying not to crack a smile.
