The Los Angeles Angels reinstated left-handed reliever Drew Pomeranz from the injured list ahead of the final game of a three-game set against the Detroit Tigers.
In a corresponding move, they optioned fellow southpaw Tayler Saucedo to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Pomeranz signed with the Angels on a one-year, $4 million contract during the offseason, but hasn’t yet made much of a mark with the Halos. He has made 17 appearances so far this season, allowing 12 earned runs in 15 innings for a 7.02 ERA.

Cristopher Sánchez blanked another team, this time the San Diego Padres, for seven innings on Wednesday at Petco Park. He allowed six hits, no walks and struck out nine in the Phils’ 3-0, series-sweeping victory.
It was the fifth straight start in which he did not allow a run, a streak of 44.2 scoreless innings, all coming in the month of May. Grover Cleveland Alexander, a Hall of Famer whose jersey is retired by the team, previously held the record of 41 straight scoreless innings, done in 1911.

Cincinnati chili has made its way to New York City, but with a twist.
Baseball fans had the opportunity to try a unique version of Cincinnati chili during the Reds-Mets series at Citi Field: the Skyline Chili egg roll.
According to the MLB website, the Skyline Chili egg roll was part of the ballpark’s season-long “Wok ‘N’ Roll’s Cities to Citi Field” promotion, which highlights “famous fare” from different U.S. cities corresponding with the teams that are in town to play the Mets.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Throughout the NCAA Softball Tournament, Mississippi State’s use of broccoli has been limited to the players in the dugout.
However, that will change at the Women’s College World Series. Although outside food is on the list of prohibited items at Devon Park, the NCAA is making an exception for fans bringing in broccoli.
Donny Faircloth, the grandfather of MSU pitcher Alyssa Faircloth was one of the first fans to discover this, bringing in a bag of florets for the Bulldogs’ (43-19) opening matchup vs. Texas Tech (57-7) on May 28 (11 a.m. CT, ESPN).
