Mike Kafka is the latest Detroit Lions offensive coordinator candidate expected to interview this week, with reports saying he’ll interview Wednesday, Jan. 14.
Kafka was the New York Giants‘ offensive coordinator in 2025, and took over as interim coach in Week 11 after coach Brian Daboll was fired. The Giants went 2-5 under Kafka, including an overtime loss at the Lions. Kafka, who has served as Giants OC the past four seasons, also interviewed for the Giants’ full-time coach opening, and reportedly will interview for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers OC job.

“I’m not going to make any emotional decisions at this point,” the quarterback said
In what might have been Aaron Rodgers’ final post-game press conference, the iconic quarterback clapped back when he was asked about his relationship with coach Mike Tomlin.
PREVIEW: Out-of-sorts Chelsea host Arsenal in Carabao Cup semi-final first leg
Chelsea aim to continue a positive start under Liam Rosenior against Arsenal in tomorrow night’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have only won one in their last five matches in all competitions, but enter the clash on the back of Rosenior’s 5-1 debut victory over Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup.
The Blues’ 3-1 quarter-final win at Cardiff City came less than a month before the end of Enzo Maresca’s tenure, a stark reminder of how quickly things can change in football.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have some key issues that will need addressing this offseason. They announced they would be keeping head coach Todd Bowles, but they did change a litany of other members of the staff. But the changes for this team go well beyond the coaching staff, as the roster is also going to look different due to free agency, retirements, or both.
So with those changes looming, we wanted to look over what trades could occur for this team to avoid another late-season collapse. With it would come a return to the playoffs for a team that is missing them for the first time since 2019.
One of the biggest improvements for the New Orleans Saints in 2025 was on the defensive side. It was a unit that kept the team in several games early in the year when the Saints struggled on offense. There were some breakdowns, but coordinator Brandon Staley and the Saints wound up ranking 9th in total defense on the year.
New Orleans was especially stout against the pass. That was a surprise to many, considering that the Saints added nothing to an often non-existent pass rush from 2024 and started an entirely new defensive backfield.
Brooks Koepka’s return to the PGA Tour just three weeks after his surprising exit from LIV Golf has understandably captured the attention of the golf world. The five-time major winner’s reinstatement comes via the Tour’s new Returning Members Program, which carries specific requirements that not-so-subtly spotlight Phil Mickelson.
Actually, spotlight isn’t the right term; single out may be more appropriate.
The Returning Member Program is only accessible to previous PGA Tour members who have either won The Players or a major championship between 2022 and 2025.
Once a franchise of sustained success, the Pittsburgh Steelers have become one of stagnation. 2025 was yet another season of finding a backdoor into the playoffs thanks to breakdowns inside the AFC North, and then getting humiliated in a playoff game that wasn’t even close. There were some differences this year: Aaron Rodgers was new, DK Metcalf was new, but Mike Tomlin remains the constant — at least for now.
The loss to the Texans on Monday Night Football wasn’t simply a one-and-done trip to the playoffs, but an example in making history for all the wrong reasons.

I doubt I was the only one who expected Scott Bain’s stay at Falkirk to be a short one.
From the moment he arrived in the summer, Bain looked completely settled, taking the number one shirt from Nicky Hogarth and proving to be one of the club’s smartest bits of business on our return to the top flight.
His match-winning saves, calm presence and ability to play out from the back quickly caught wider attention, not just around the league but beyond it.
Before long, the rumour mill was in full swing, with interest steadily building.
In the new era of mass exodus in the transfer portal, having a successful transfer class could make or break the season. Ohio State’s 2024 transfer class, which included Caleb Downs, Will Howard, Quinshon Judkins, Julian Sayin, and Seth McLaughlin (among others), propelled that Buckeye team to a national title. Thus far, Ohio State has lost nearly 30 players to the portal and has brought in 11 players. Here are five things you need to know about Ohio State’s transfer portal class thus far.
1. Bolstering the back end
You can not replace Caleb Downs.
It’s been a ride already.
The Las Vegas Raiders have owned the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft for just more than a week. Yet it has been a wild ride.
Indiana quarterback, the Heisman Trophy winner, had been the early favorite to be the team’s pick. But that went to the next level after his incredible play in a NCAA playoff win over Oregon last week. Mendoza was near perfect in the game.
He looks like the clear-cut choice. The Raiders badly need a young quarterback and Mendoza fits the bill perfectly, it seems.
