This past Saturday, the UCF Knights put up a valiant effort in their 84-77 loss to the No. 1-ranked Arizona Wildcats.
Tuesday was another top 10 clash, but this time on the road against the No. 9 Iowa State Cyclones. Having back-to-back games against a top-10 opponent isn’t easy whatsoever. In the words of Iowa’s own Slipknot, UCF’s game against ISU in Ames would be a “disasterpiece.”
The Cyclones defeated the Knights 87-57 at Hilton Coliseum. With the loss, the Knights fell to 14-4 overall and 3-3 in Big 12 play. UCF head coach Johnny Dawkins simply put it: “We fell short.

DALLAS (AP) — Jason Robertson scored two goals, Justin Hryckowian had a goal and two assists, and the Dallas Stars ended a three-game skid while snapping the Boston Bruins’ six-game winning streak, 6-2 on Tuesday night.
Wyatt Johnston, Mavrik Bourque and Esa Lindell also scored for the Stars, who had just three goals in their previous three games. Miro Heiskanen had three assists and Jake Oettinger had 16 saves.
The Bruins trailed 6-0 when Morgan Geekie scored on the power play to end Oettinger’s shutout bid with 7:49 to play.

Felix Auger-Aliassime is the biggest casualty of the Australian Open after the first round of the tournament as the seventh seed retired after suffering with cramp. The Canadian, who reached the semi-finals of the US Open last season, was trailing Portugal’s Nuno Borges 3-6 6-4 6-4 when he retired.

Sitting on the couch in January has Baker Mayfield firing stray shots at former coaches, namely Kevin Stefanski — the former Browns leader now taking over as head coach in Atlanta.
Tuesday afternoon, Mayfield jumped on X after a Falcons reporter took a scathing shot at his brief tenure in Cleveland, labeling Stefanski’s past quarterback situations as “dumpster fires” and lumping Mayfield in with Deshaun Watson.
For what he was handed, Mayfield has done a solid job reviving his career after surviving Cleveland from 2018 to 2021.

The Charlotte Hornets lost by 20 points against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday. It was a bad loss for Hornets head coach Charles Lee, but he did get under Stephen Curry and Draymond Green’s skin.
Green himself even led to calling out the Hornets’ “gimmicky” defense.
