PGA Tour veteran Patrick Cantlay has been in the news the past few weeks not for winning tournaments, but for being very slow while playing in them.
This all started when Brooks Koepka voiced his frustrations with Cantlay’s pace of play in the final round of the Masters. Then, last week, Cantlay was seen playing at his dreadfully slow pace during the RBC Heritage. He received some heckles from the crowd before finishing in third place late Sunday afternoon.
One fan’s video of Cantlay is going viral because it shows just how painfully slow he can play during a tournament.

Manny Machado and the San Diego Padres are not off to the start most around the league had imagined.
The Padres came into the 2023 MLB season with sky high expectations after a number of major acquisitions and signings.
Juan Soto came over via trade at the 2022 deadline, as did closer Josh Hader. Xander Bogaerts was signed to a massive, $280 million contract.
They extended Yu Darvish, Jake Cronenworth, resigned key reliever Robert Suarez and starter Joe Musgrove. And then committed to another massive deal; extending superstar third baseman Manny Machado for 11-years and $350 million.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts inked a five-year, $255 million contract giving him the highest average annual salary of any player in NFL history and it took Shannon Sharpe less than one day to make the situation about race.
Some individuals in the media believe every action – whether it be in sports, politics, or the way someone walks down the sidewalk – has a racist connotation to it.

Bills safety Damar Hamlin announced his intention to return to the NFL this upcoming season on Tuesday following his more than three month recovery journey after suffering cardiac arrest during a game on Jan. 2.
During his speech to the media on Tuesday, Hamlin detailed that the exact diagnosis doctors gave him is commotio cordis, which is when something hitting an athlete’s chest directly over the heart can cause cardiac arrest and ventricular fibrillation.
Hamlin noted that commotio cordis is the leading cause of death of youth athletes across all sports.

In current society, pandering is all the rage. Bud Light panders to the transgender community. NHL teams pander to the LGBTQ movement. Even an English soccer league panders to Black Lives Matter. But the New York Mets officially took pandering too far.
They sent out tweets rooting for ALL of the New York teams currently in the playoffs, including the Rangers, Islanders, Knicks and Nets.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts woke up Tuesday morning as a placeholder.
For however long it takes Joe Burrow to sign his new deal with the Bengals or Justin Herbert with the Chargers, Hurts stands alone with the biggest contract in NFL history. Hurts signed a five-year extension Monday with the Eagles worth $255 million, including $179.3 million guaranteed. The annual figure is the most ever given to a player.
At least for now.
But what about the other positions? Here’s a rundown of the financial king for each, based on annual average value. All financial information is courtesy Spotrac.
