A strange scene unfolded Wednesday night when Chicago Cubs reliever Luke Little was met at the mound by an umpire and told to switch out his glove.
The reason? The black glove had an American flag on it.
The official cited a series of Major League Baseball rules relating to a pitcher’s glove, specifically a prohibition against white on the glove as it could theoretically distract a batter. Those little white stars and white stripes were too much I guess.

The first round is here. How might it unfold?
The 2024 NFL Draft is finally here.
What better way to celebrate the occasion than one more mock draft?
This mock draft falls under the “predictive” category, as we put our heads together to come up with some plausible scenarios for tonight, as well as for some of the teams that do not — or will not, based on some trades we are prediction — have a first-round pick. Will we get some things right? We certainly hope so. Will we get some things wrong? Absolutely. Will people be mad? Probably.
Could former Iowa football star Cooper DeJean beat Caitlin Clark in basketball?

Kids say the darndest things.
A video of Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf went around social media on Wednesday, showing a testy interaction between him and a heckling high schooler.
In all fairness, the kid was acting like a nuisance. He shouted at Metcalf that Jalen Ramsey, former Rams cornerback, was his “dad,” i.e., that he owned Metcalf.
Metcalf shares a beef with Ramsey, which didn’t make him fond of the pestering kid’s comment.
“Jalen Ramsey’s your dad,” the kid shouted.
Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson and wide receiver Tee Higgins want out of Cincy.
News of Higgins’ trade request first appeared in March. For a while, Higgins answered that he looked forward to playing in Cincinnati next season. However, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter shared the latest update on Wednesday, noting that Higgins intends to get out of Cincinnati.
The news is a complete bummer for Joe Burrow and Zac Taylor’s Bengals offense.
If there’s ever been a single-season team bad enough to make its fans hope the organization leaves for a different city, it’s the 2024 Chicago White Sox. And the season isn’t even a full month old yet.
The White Sox are bad. Well, bad is a dramatic understatement considering just how bad they’ve been through the first 3-plus weeks of the season. The word “bad” is an understatement even; horrific, horrendous, terrible, atrocious, unimaginable, embarrassing…those are better choices.
Miami hit 23 3-pointers during its big playoff victory against the top-seeded Boston Celtics — a franchise playoff record.
Timberwolves forward Naz Reid was named the 2023-24 NBA Sixth Man of the Year on Wednesday night.
