There have been a lot of bad moves by sports organizations when it comes to giveaways and skits, but the Charlotte Hornets might have topped them all this week. On Monday the Hornets faced the 76ers and included an on-court segment in which mascot Hugo appeared to give a PS5 to a child, only to take it away from him backstage and replace it with a jersey.

We break down who is standing out already this season in women’s college basketball
For the past three women’s college basketball seasons, the end of each season featured a team from the SEC holding up the national championship trophy. Of those titles, two went to Dawn Staley and the South Carolina Gamecocks and one to LSU.
Now, in the 2024-25 season, the conference is as competitive as its been with seven teams in the top 25 and schools loaded with top athletes in the country, all hoping to mirror South Carolina’s success.

Red Bull has parted ways with veteran driver Sergio Pérez
The final bit of business from the 2024 Formula 1 season has been completed.
Sergio Pérez is out at Red Bull.
The move was confirmed by Pérez and Red Bull on Wednesday, in a statement indicating they had “reached an agreement to part ways.”
Pérez on social media stated that he was “incredibly grateful” for the four years he spent at Red Bull:

Thank you for these four years @redbullracing I wish you the best. pic.twitter.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill posted a confusing message on social media that could be interpreted a couple of different ways.
Hill, who leads Miami in receiving yards this season, wrote “It’s time for me to go coach” on X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday morning. The 30-year-old may have simply forgotten to add a comma in his statement, or maybe he left it out by design.
Perhaps Hill felt the need to let the world know that he wants to get into the coaching world, or he’s sending a message to the Dolphins’ front office that he wants out of Miami.

No other player in the future of Iowa women’s basketball will wear number 22.
The Hawkeyes announced Wednesday morning that Caitlin Clark’s former number will be retired and raised into the rafters February 2, 2025.

After railing against the expanded playoff, Dabo Swinney and Clemson are benefitting the most and can shock the college football world at Texas.

As the college football world prepares for the start of the playoffs on Friday, the topic of ticket sales has been overwhelming social media for the past two weeks, mainly centered around a potential invasion of Tennessee fans at Ohio State on Saturday night. 
While the topic has become a lightning rod for fans of both teams, as fans in Orange declare this a hostile takeover, and Buckeye fans are trying to hold the line in Columbus, I’m all for the declarations, and so is the College Football Playoff.

Englishman Marco Penge received a penalty from the DP World Tour for betting on pro golf events besides his own.
Even though the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and LIV Golf all have partnerships with different betting companies, the players themselves are forbidden from placing any sort of wager.
It’s a tricky balance, especially since gambling ads litter any golf broadcast nowadays.
