ESPN reporter Laura Rutledge was in the fight of her life in the green room during Thursday’s NFL Draft.
There’s no real other way to put it – it was a bloodbath out there. Absolute war zone. She had bullets flying from every which direction and she was doing her best to keep the ship afloat.
The main issue was the moms. The matriarchs of the NFL Draft.
They didn’t seem to vibe at all with Laura, and they also didn’t seem to understand basic interview questions, which is never a great combo when you’re on live TV.

Night one of the 2024 NFL Draft is in the books. How might night two unfold?
The first four selections of the 2024 NFL Draft went relatively according to plan. The Chicago Bears drafted Caleb Williams, the Washington Commanders drafted Jayden Daniels, the New England Patriots hope to have found their franchise quarterback in Drake Maye, and the Arizona Cardinals reaped the benefit of the QB run, selecting Marvin Harrison Jr.
Then everything started to unravel, albeit slowly.

It was a big night for some, and a bad one for others.
If there’s one thing we look back on in 10 years about the 2024 NFL Draft it’s the year when anticipation gave way to desperation. A record number of quarterbacks were taken in the first round, with a total of SIX passers going before the 13th overall pick — and while some of these picks were genuinely good, there were others that were utterly confusing.
Everything begins at the top with the Chicago Bears, who ended up pulling of the coup of the first round. Taking Caleb Williams with the No.
Bill Belichick dominated his Pat McAfee debut during Thursday night’s NFL Draft. From start to finish, it was a masterclass. Pure content.
Frankly, I couldn’t stop watching. I was addicted. It was like a drug. Like nicotine. Fine, like cocaine!
From the word go, I couldn’t take my eyes off of Bill. Maybe it was because we’ve just never seen him out in the wild like this? Whatever it was, it worked. He was funny, smart, kind of a dick to Drake Maye, and, at times, couldn’t have cared less about what was going on.
Joe Alt’s girlfriend Emilie Meyer caught the attention of the internet. Thursday night, but not for the best reasons!
Alt, a former star Notre Dame offensive lineman, was drafted fifth overall to the Chargers, and he’ll now be tasked with protecting Justin Herbert.
The young man has a lot of potential, and should be a solid NFL player. However, that’s not what social media was talking about during the NFL Draft.
It was Meyer who grabbed people’s attention because she looked like she had no idea what was going on when the cameras cut to her during the pick.
Former Alabama star Kool-Aid McKinstry thinks NIL absolutely played a role in Nick Saban hanging up his whistle.
The seven-time national champion hung up his whistle after this past season in a decision that surprised a lot of fans. Many people thought he still had a few more seasons in him. I guess not.
As soon as Saban retired, many started to wonder whether or not NIL turning the sport into the wild west played a role. The legendary Alabama coach has hinted NIL played some kind of role and told a Congressional hearing that the sport he knew for decades doesn’t really exist anymore.
Joel Embiid, star center for the Philadelphia 76ers, revealed on Thursday that he has been battling through a Bell’s Palsy diagnosis for the past 10 days, playing through the diagnosis as the Sixers feel their backs against the wall.
Embiid shared the news of his condition with the media after Game 3’s 125-113 win by Philly.
Bell’s Palsy leads to partial paralysis of the face. In Embiid’s case, the left side of his face has been affecting him during the ongoing series against the New York Knicks.
The Vikings traded up to the No. 10 pick with the Jets to select quarterback J.J. McCarthy on Thursday at the NFL draft.
Joel Embiid scored 50 points to lead the 76ers to a needed Game 3 win over the Knicks and afterward addressed his recent diagnosis with a condition that has affected the left side of his face.
The Chargers received trade inquiries for Justin Herbert from the Patriots and Vikings but quickly turned down both requests, sources told ESPN.
