Jac Caglianone hit a grand salami on Sunday afternoon then gave a prickly umpire something to chew on.
During Florida’s game with rival Georgia, pitcher Brandon Neely pumped the guns after an inning-ending strikeout. He did so while walking towards his own dugout. Pretty routine stuff.
Then again, how dare he!
That was the reaction by the home plate ump who clearly didn’t stay in a Holiday Inn Express on Saturday evening.
Neely was tossed (check the video below) for showing some excitement and an inning later Caglianone epically trolled bad mood blue during a trip around the bags.

Ten days left, and we have a draft-heavy version of the Takeaways …
The trail of clues on the first pick in the draft keeps leading back to Bryce Young becoming a Panther. Last week, we mentioned the amount of time that the team brass spent with Young (and the time put in with Young’s parents), as well as Young’s S2 score—a 98, better than previous high scorers Josh Allen, Joe Burrow and Justin Fields—and how owner David Tepper is said to be a believer in the cognitive test.
This week, there’s a smaller detail coming—Ohio State’s C.J.
It was Thursday, and Commanders coach Ron Rivera was behind his desk, watching tape, when the news got across to him, the same way it got to the rest of the world—through news reports. So Rivera paused the tape (he was watching receivers, and TCU’s Quentin Johnston was on the screen) and gave himself a moment before doing any fact-finding of his own, just as the cellphone sitting nearby on his desk started to blow up.
Word was, finally, the franchise was being sold, with the initial report, from the sports business site Sportico, having it going to D.C.

Kings snatch thrilling win Game 1 from Warriors, 126-123
Back in 2006, the Sacramento Kings fell in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, losing to the San Antonio Spurs in six games. In 2011, and for many years to follow, it was rumored that the Kings might be on the move out of Sacramento — perhaps to Southern California, or even to Seattle.
Jalen Hurts is getting paid. The Eagles QB, who emerged as an MVP candidate this season, will get a reported $179M in guaranteed money.
Jalen Hurts and the Eagles have agreed to terms on a five-year contract extension worth $255 million, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero and ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal makes him the highest-paid player in NFL history.
The deal includes $179.3 million in guarantees and includes a no-trade clause. At signing, $110 million is guaranteed.
The extension also includes $15 million in incentives, meaning Hurts can earn up to a record $54 million per year and up to $274.3 million total through 2028. This includes the $4.
Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson was involved in a scary situation over the weekend while playing golf in the Denver area.
While the nine-time Pro Bowler was playing at Arrowhead Golf Course in Littleton, Colo., on Saturday, his golf cart appeared to flip over near a bunker, according to 104.3 The Fan’s Mat Smith. It’s unclear exactly what happened to cause the golf cart to flip.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. The Broncos start has yet to comment on what happened. If anything, Wilson probably has learned to take it easy on the golf course.

Nothing about this makes sense.
The possible sale of the Washington Commanders felt too neat and tidy for a Dan Snyder business deal. There’s now reportedly a bizarre $7 billion ALL CASH offer for the team that came out of nowhere, three days after an agreement had been reached in principle for Snyder to sell the team to a group made up of Josh Harris, Mitchell Rales, and Magic Johnson.
Are the Bucks in trouble? Can Rui Hachimura come up big for the Lakers again? Our experts break down the biggest storylines from the opening weekend of the NBA playoffs.
It has been decades since Desmond Howard played his last snap for Michigan, but that doesn’t mean the Ohio State trash talk ever has to stop. The former wide receiver and current ESPN analyst took a shot at the Buckeyes on Saturday when he came across a video from the team’s spring game.
In the scrimmage, two-time Heisman winner Archie Griffin was ceremoniously given the ball to rush for one final Buckeyes touchdown. Griffin won the Heisman in 1974 and ’75 with Ohio State and did the signature Heisman pose after his touchdown.
