After Kyrie Irving reportedly requested a trade from the Nets on Friday after the two sides couldn’t agree on terms of a contract extension, ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins took the All-NBA guard to task on NBA Today.
“What reaction?” Perkins asked ESPN’s Malika Andrews when she asked for Perkins’s thoughts on his trade request.
“This is Kyrie Irving. A guy that you cannot trust.

News of the Nets star’s request broke less than a week before the Feb. 9 trade deadline.
Report: Kyrie Irving Requests Trade From Brooklyn Nets (; 0:27)
In the wake of Kyrie Irving’s stunning trade request from the Nets, a cryptic tweet sent by the star guard Friday shortly before the news broke may have provided some insight into his growing rift with team management.
Irving, 30, shared a message on Twitter encouraging people to surround themselves with those who “celebrate you unconditionally” and steer clear of individuals who “manipulate, hate, and hurt.

The Lakers hall-of-famer would like the point guard in Los Angeles.
With Kyrie Irving requesting a trade from the Nets, Brooklyn has a week to find a deal before the trade deadline passes on February 9. Initially, three teams are reportedly interested in a potential deal, including the Lakers. That is consistent with the reports over the summer that the Lakers were considering offering multiple first round picks to the Nets for Irving.
As Twitter was reacting to the news, one of the best Lakers ever gave his support for the team to try and acquire Irving.

How much would you pay to MAYBE have a chance to see LeBron break the record?
That’s the current dilemma that some are facing right now as tickets for Tuesday’s Los Angeles Lakers – Oklahoma City Thunder game are currently being resold for tens of thousands of dollars.
Of course there’s not even a 100% guarantee that LeBron is going to break the record that night.

Eastern Illinois basketball is not very good this year (outside of a huge upset win over Iowa) and lost its 17th game of the year on Thursday night. One Panthers player physically engaged a fan sitting court-side in the loss and it made for a truly insane sequence.
Late in the first half, Eastern Illinois had the ball on its own half of the court. Junior guard Caleb Donaldson dished down low to 6-foot-8 center Nick Ellington.

The Nets’ title odds have dropped after Kyrie Irving reportedly requested a trade.
Reports of Nets’ star point guard Kyrie Irving demanding a trade sent oddsmakers scrambling to adjust the odds on the Eastern Conference power Friday afternoon.
Brooklyn’s odds to win the title have plummeted at SI Sportsbook to +1200 after beginning the week at +550, tied for the second-best odds in the NBA.
The Nets are now tied with the Clippers for the eighth-best odds and the fourth-best in the conference behind the Celtics, Bucks and 76ers.
