BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU slugger Tommy White hit the biggest home run in college baseball last season. His two-run walk-off in the bottom of the 11th at the College World Series gave LSU a 2-0 win over No. 1 Wake Forest and sent the Tigers into the national championship against Florida that they won.
But White will likely always remember the somewhat meaningless one he hit Tuesday night here at Alex Box Stadium – a three-run shot for a 9-0 lead in the eighth inning of a 9-0 win over Nicholls State.

It doesn’t feel like too long ago that we were watching these 2024 NFL Draft prospects’ dads on the gridiron.
The inescapable march of time comes for us all, and what better time to remember our own mortality than the NFL Draft? With an ever-increasing number of NFL progeny entering the league we’re seeing the children of players who retired less than a decade ago trying to find a home in the NFL.
This 2024 NFL Draft class is headlined by three players who are the kids of former NFL players, with a few more later in the draft.

There’s going to be an NHL team playing in Utah next season and they’re going to need a name.
This week, owner Ryan Smith said that he plans to use a March Madness-style bracket to let fans decide what the team will be called.
Of course, this can’t be a free-for-all because the team will need to have the right to use whatever name ends up winning. The easiest way to do this would be to trademark a bunch of possible monikers so that whatever wins can be used.
Well, that appears to be what they’re doing.

The younger McCaffrey is a fascinating NFL Draft prospect.
There’s something in the water when it comes to the McCaffrey family and playing football. Christian McCaffrey is the best running back in football, a player who turned pre-draft doubt into ludicrous production as an all-purpose running back — now his younger brother Luke is entering the NFL Draft to much less fanfare, but remains a fascinating mid-round pick.
Luke McCaffrey, who played wide receiver at Rice, is expected to be a Day 3 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
DETROIT – Caleb Williams kept his hands in his pockets much of Wednesday morning while he was talking to reporters. That’s understandable because it was 40 degrees outside and a biting wind was whipping through the site of the old Tiger Stadium where he and other NFL draft prospects were gathered for a community event put on by the NFL.
But then I asked him about his penchant for painting his nails. And, sure, enough, Williams took his hands out of his pockets and showed me the thumb on his left hand is painted in silver and the thumb on his right is painted blue.
The NCAA Board of Governors is expected to meet on Thursday to discuss – and potentially vote – on the issue involving transgender women, more commonly referred to as biological men, competing in women’s college sports. As a result, a number of current and former athletes who lack common sense or a basic understanding of biology have come together to release letters urging the NCAA not to ban trans women from competing against biological women at the collegiate level.

An interesting name to watch during the NFL Draft is Mike Hall Jr. out of Ohio State
When it comes to the NFL Draft there are some prospects are ready to get right to work. It is clear and obvious that Ohio State defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. is one of them.
It can be easy for the process of the draft to get to and distract players, but others are able to maintain enough tunnel vision to stay laser focused on the ultimate goal.

Congratulations to whoever drafts Michigan defensive tackle Kris Jenkins.
Michigan defensive tackle Kris Jenkins is my favorite player in the NFL Draft this year. Competition closed.
This isn’t to say that I don’t love other players or even want my team (the Dallas Cowboys, lol) to draft this one or that one, but it is impossible that anybody is going to be as cool and interesting as Kris Jenkins was when I spoke to him.
