PORTLAND (AP) — Jerami Grant had 23 points and the Portland Trail Blazers snapped a six-game losing streak, beating the Memphis Grizzlies 135-115 on Friday night to open a two-game set.
The teams will meet again Saturday night in Portland.
Jrue Holiday had 20 points and seven assists for the Blazers, who led by 30 points after pulling away in the second half. Eight Portland players finished in double figures.
Cam Spencer had 18 points off the bench for the Grizzlies, who had won their previous two straight after a six-game losing streak. GG Jackson II added 15.

Super Bowl 60 will evoke memories of the classic battle between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks on the same stage 11 years earlier, but make no mistake: these are fresh faces taking the field in Santa Clara.
This Super Bowl is the first in 13 years to feature two head coaches and two starting quarterbacks without Super Bowl experience in their roles.

It appears Anthony Davis will be waiting until next season to make his Washington Wizards debut.
The All-Star big man is expected to sit out the rest of the season for health reasons, according to Prime Video’s Chris Haynes. Davis hasn’t played since early January due to a finger injury.

Feb. 6—JAMESTOWN — Bismarck Legacy was up 10 points on the Blue Jay girls basketball team in the second half.
The Sabers couldn’t hold onto the lead.
“We put up a strong team win, showing resilience and composure after falling behind …. in the second half,” said JHS head coach Andy Skunberg.
The Blue Jays not only came back but ended up defeating Legacy 61-54 Friday night. Final stats were not available when The Jamestown Sun went to press.
Jamestown is now 6-6 in the West Region standings. The next game for the Jays is scheduled for Feb. 10 against Minot.

BOSTON — The Boston Celtics made 1 triple in the first half, lost the turnover battle, and scored under 100 points against the Miami Heat on Friday night. In spite of all this, they still managed to come out on top at TD Garden with a 98-96 victory, completing a 22-point comeback to secure their fifth straight win.
After scoring just 38 points through the first two quarters (which was a season-low), the Celtics erupted in the third quarter with 36 points.

Former New York Jets linebacker Darron Lee has been arrested in Tennessee for allegedly murdering his girlfriend. 
Lee, per the Hamilton County Sheriff’s office, was arrested on Thursday afternoon by sheriff’s deputies. According to their press release, those deputies went to a residence, with a “report of CPR in progress.” They then “located a female victim and attempted life-saving measures,” but it was determined at the scene that “she was deceased.

It was a beatdown by the Gonzaga Bulldogs (17-7-7, 9-2 WCC) in the second round of the rivalry matchup with the Oregon State Beavers (17-7-7, 9-2 WCC) in Spokane, Washington, 67-37. A much different story from the 92-87 overtime loss in Corvallis, Oregon, just two weeks ago.
