It’s been a run of bad news for the PGA Tour over the past six months. Most notably with the shocking departure of formerly committed Tour superstar Jon Rahm for the significantly more lucrative LIV Golf pastures.

But the beleaguered league may finally be getting some relief thanks to a new, multibillion-dollar deal with a group of prominent owners from other sports.

There are just a few weeks remaining in 2023, and a change in the calendar means the NBA trade deadline isn’t far off. This season’s deadline is less than two months away on Thursday, Feb. 8, and as some teams fall out of contention, more quality players could become available—for the right price.
Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen could be one of them.
According to a new report by Yahoo Sports, Utah intends to hang onto the 2023 Most Improved Player and All-Star selection. However, if a team was to blow the Jazz (8–16) away with an offer, he would not be considered “untouchable.

Thomas has seen Charlie Woods grow up before his eyes, but the playful banter between the two has reached its peak.
Justin Thomas and his dad, Mike, are in the field this week for the PNC Championship. They previously took home the trophy in 2020. That year also marked the first time Tiger Woods and his son Charlie played in the event.
Thomas and Charlie have known each other for a long time. The two-time PGA Championship winner has watched the youngster grow up and has seen his game evolve.

The first Lakers–Spurs matchup between LeBron James and Victor Wembanyama has not disappointed.
In the closing minute of the first half with Los Angeles trailing by nine points, the rookie Wembanyama guarded James in the corner.
James paused for several seconds, took one dribble and flicked up a high-arching shot over the 7’4″ Wembanyama’s outstretched arm.
Swish.
The play resulted in an iconic photo of James and Wembanyama, a pair of generational talents taken at the top of their draft classes 20 years apart.

In his return to Memphis, former Grizzles standout wing Dillon Brooks became emotional during his former club’s tribute video at FedEx Forum on Friday evening.
In six seasons Brooks established himself as one of the NBA’s top two-way forwards.
After being acquired in a trade in the offseason, Brooks is enjoying solid production in his first season with the Rockets, averaging 13.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

The Pac-12 may be running on fumes, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t going out without a bang.
On Friday, the Washington Supreme Court denied a motion filed by the 10 schools set to exit the Pac-12 Conference. That ruling essentially handed back control over the conference to Oregon State and Washington State. The initial ruling by a lower court had confirmed that OSU and WSU would be placed in control, which was reinstated by the Supreme Court decision Friday.

Dak Prescott’s production this season has vaulted the Cowboys quarterback into the NFL MVP conversation as we head into Week 15.
The two-time Pro Bowl signal-caller, who leads the NFL in touchdown passes (28), has the full support of the Cowboys’ best defensive player Micah Parsons.
Parsons shared that Prescott’s leadership and dedication off the field is a major factor why the face of the Dallas franchise is poised to become one of the NFL’s highest-paid players once he eventually signs a contract extension, as many expect.

No. 2 Washington will reportedly welcome a top-notch quarterback to replace departing star Michael Penix Jr. next season after landing coveted transfer Will Rogers on Friday night.
Rogers, a four-year standout at Mississippi State, confirmed his commitment to Washington with his official visit underway for the weekend, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports.
With one year of eligibility remaining, Rogers’s decision to join the Huskies will end a successful run with the Bulldogs that saw the Mississippi native become the SEC’s No. 2 all-time passer with 12,315 yards.

Matt Carpenter is on the move once again.
The Padres traded Carpenter, left-hander Ray Kerr and cash considerations to the Braves in exchange for minor league outfielder Drew Campbell, the team announced Friday. Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports that San Diego will send Atlanta $1.5 million in the deal.
Carpenter, the three-time All-Star who starred for over a decade with the Cardinals, will join his fourth team in as many years.
Carpenter wrapped up his St. Louis tenure in 2021. He had a resurgent 2022 campaign with the Yankees (after being released by the Rangers), batting .305/.412/.
