Considering where he started, finishing where he did was not bad for Yuki Tsunoda
Sunday was going to be a difficult day for Yuki Tsunoda at the Belgian Grand Prix.
With Visa Cash App RB F1 Team making many changes to his RB01, including replacing components beyond the number allotted to each driver throughout a single season, Tsunoda was hit with a staggering 60-place grid penalty for Sunday’s race. Given that there are only 20 cars on the grid, that meant that no matter where he qualified on Saturday, he was starting at the back of the field.

Why the next big step in women’s sports might just come on the racetrack
Women’s sports are having a moment.
Excitement over Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese has propelled women’s basketball to new heights. Not only were some of the games in the 2024 Women’s NCAA Tournament the highest-rated in history — surpassing World Series and NBA Finals games — but that has translated to the WNBA.

Eddy Curry, the former New York Knicks big man, is making a heroic effort to rescue a one-year-old Israeli boy kidnapped by Hamas.
After visiting the Holy Land, Curry, 41, is offering strong support to Israel after Hamas viciously attacked the ally nation on Oct. 7.
The attack led to hundreds of kidnapped people and the deaths of thousands of innocent Israelis. Kfir Bibas, a one-year-old Israeli boy, is among those kidnapped, and Curry is determined to secure his liberation.

This dude swimming in a lady’s pool actually made sense.
Bob the Cap Catcher became the early hero of the Paris Summer Olympic Games after jumping into a pool on Sunday to retrieve an American competitor’s swimming cap in the 100-meter breaststroke preliminary race. Team USA swimmer Emma Weber accidentally dropped her cap in the pool, summoning Paris’ version of Aquaman.
The mysterious pool worker in a floral Speedo appeared and hastily picked the cap out of the pool — which the female Olympic swimmer was beyond qualified to do.

Former NBA hooper Gary Payton is acting messy and causing drama with opposing players in Ice Cube’s Big 3 league.
The 56-year-old still knows how to be a nuisance on the basketball court in 2024.
“The Glove” squared off against fellow NBA retiree Jordan Crawford on Sunday during a Big 3 face-off. Things nearly turned extra physical after Crawford shoved Payton for his excessive trash-talking. Watching the tape, it’s easy to see how Crawford hit a boiling point with Payton.

Israel’s ongoing conflict with Hamas remains a hot topic for the mainstream media, particularly from the perspective of Palestine’s supporters.
One UFC reporter tried baiting UFC President Dana White into a question about removing a Palestinian flag from fighter Belal Muhammad’s side of the Octagon, and White — an outspoken opponent of the modern woke agenda in sports — quickly shut down the political query.
The reporter asked Dana why the flag was taken down, and White was seemingly unaware of the flag’s appearance, let alone its removal at the UFC event.

Before the Dallas Cowboys even held their first padded practice of training camp, they suffered a blow to their defense with pass rusher Sam Williams suffering a season-ending torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, a source told ESPN on Sunday.

The NBA community had no mercy on Celtics All-Star Jayson Tatum for being a literal non-factor against Serbia on Sunday, acting more as the team’s water and towel boy with zero minutes of play.
Despite winning his first NBA championship a month ago, Tatum still struggles with being taken seriously as a marquee NBA talent. This was made glaringly evident with Team USA’s easy win over the Serbs, 110-84, without the player’s help.
After Sunday’s win, Team USA coach Steve Kerr regretted not playing Tatum against Serbia. Tatum averaged 17.
