The WNBA is being watched and talked about this season like never before – as if it is a real league. It’s right up there with the other secondary, major professional leagues like the NHL, NBA and MLB behind the monster NFL. From 1997 through 2023, the WNBA wasn’t one of those. Few watched, and barely anyone talked about it.
On Sunday and Monday, national radio sports shows focused on Caitlin Clark, and the NBA and NHL are in the midst of their playoff finals.

The overwhelming majority of folks in the media, and just the general population of sports fans, have been trying to present this ridiculous, politically-driven theory that the sports world is all of a sudden talking about the WNBA because of how great the 2024 draft class as a whole was.
The actual reality – a place that same crowd refuses to visit – is that Caitlin Clark is the one and only reason people who have never paid any attention at all to the WNBA are choosing to do so.
We’re about to find out if the NHL can successfully market its best player (Connor McDavid) during its biggest event (the Stanley Cup Final) to an American audience. Because McDavid is about the only draw that the Edmonton Oilers vs. the Florida Panthers Final has for hockey fans in the United States.
Sure, there are some Florida Panthers fans who started watching hockey when Florida got good a few years ago. Before I get emails from those tens of fans, just understand that the television ratings don’t lie.

McIntyre hinted at a trip home to Scotland after he won, and he made it official by withdrawing from the Memorial Tournament.
Robert MacIntyre won the RBC Canadian Open on Sunday to claim his first PGA Tour victory. That win got him into this week’s Memorial Tournament, the Travelers Championship, and, of course, the U.S. Open.
However, the 27-year-old will not be in Dublin, Ohio. Instead, he will head home to Scotland and spend time with his family.
