Here are our picks for Week 9.
We’re officially passing the midway point on the 2023 NFL season this week, and it’s wild we’ve hit this point. It seems like Week 1 was only yesterday, and now we’re hurtling towards the playoffs.
This is a really fascinating week across the NFL. After Will Levis’ incredible debut the Titans are now favorites against the Steelers, while we have Atlanta, even with a QB change being picked over the Minnesota Vikings as they resort to Jaren Hall as starter after Kirk Cousins’ season-ending Achilles injury.

Zhang fired off a solid round, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with the Japanese players at the LPGA Toto Japan event.
Rose Zhang played really well in Round 1 of the TOTO Japan Classic in Ibaraki, Japan. She fired off a 4-under 68. Yet, that score only has her tied for 21st after 18 holes.
Zhang is coming off a T3 finish at the Maybank Championship. It appears as though she brought that momentum from Malaysia to Japan.
The LPGA rookie sank five birdies and logged just one bogey on her round Thursday.

Give the fullback some love.
Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill finds himself in the middle of the MVP race on the back of a phenomenal start to the 2023 season. He’s the only player in the NFL with over 1,000 receiving yards and is first in the NFL in receiving touchdowns.
However, when he was asked in Germany about his MVP candidacy, Hill responded with another candidate in mind—Dolphins fullback Alec Ingold.

Tyreek Hill, asked if he can win MVP: No, because we have a player on this team that means more to it… and his name is Alec Ingold pic.twitter.

It might not be the most exciting of games, but you can definitely find a way to make it a fun one.
Sometimes, you look ahead at a game on a schedule and think, “Wow, this is going to be a great game between two really good teams and two great quarterbacks.” Other times, you see Kenny Pickett and the Pittsburgh Steelers set to face off against Will Levis and the Tennessee Titans on Thursday Night Football.

Zion Williamson is off and running to start the 2023–24 NBA season. The Pelicans star has been riddled with injuries throughout his young career but one ESPN analyst thinks Williamson will be in the conversation for MVP—with just one stipulation.
During an appearance on Get Up on Thursday morning, host Mike Greenberg asked basketball analyst Monica McNutt if Williamson would be an MVP candidate if he played in 70 games this season.
“If he plays 70 games, yes, I think he will be,” she said. “Because you’re going to be talking about this Pelicans squad.

This is why we can’t have nice things.
Nike just released its NBA ‘City Retro’ alternate jerseys and fans are not impressed.
The jerseys that look like somebody got high and delved into a version of Windows 2000 MS Paint will be part of the NBA’s upcoming “In-Season Tournament” that nobody asked for and include these jerseys that also nobody cares about.
LET’S TAKE A LOOK

CITY RETRO JERSEYS ARE AWFUL
I didn’t mind when the NBA initially launched the third alternate jerseys but we’ve now gone so far beyond that.

Jimmy Garoppolo has had a tough week, as the Raiders benched him for Aiden O’Connell following the team firing coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler. The regime change probably marks the end of the Garoppolo era in Las Vegas, just halfway into his first season with the organization.
What makes this week even more difficult for Garoppolo is that he turns 32 years old on Thursday. Despite the quarterback getting benched and all the upheaval in Las Vegas, the Raiders posted a “Happy Birthday” message on social media for the veteran.

1. Urban Meyer, the man who coached Aaron Hernandez at Florida and the man who didn’t last a full season in the NFL after going 2–11 and getting caught up in an off-the-field scandal, has figured out who the real enemy is in the alleged Michigan cheating saga: the media.
Of course.
Apparently there is a show called Urban’s Take With Tim May and on a recent episode, Meyer spoke about the allegations that Michigan has been involved in stealing the signs of their opponents. Here’s what Meyer had to say.
“I’ve been asked over 100 times to comment on it and I just won’t.

College football is built on storylines, memories, and drama and all three of those factors are created by the die-hard fans spread all over the country. In most cases, those fans have a good bit of delusion instilled in them and it’s that delusion that makes the college game so great.
By now you’ve likely listened to the back-and-forth between Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney and ‘Tyler from Spartanburg’ who questioned Swinney’s worth and ability to coach.

The 2023-24 NFL season has reached its halfway point and during the past eight weeks, a prevalent storyline is the poor quality of officiating.
Questionable calls have outraged coaches. Former players have decried how badly that subpar officiating has impacted games. Rules analysts are struggling to explain decisions from their previous colleagues. And the league itself is increasingly defensive over penalties (or non-penalties) that have puzzled media and fans.
