Dan Hooker won by unanimous decision over Jalin Turner on Saturday night at UFC 290 in Hooker’s first fight since November for his 13th UFC win. The fight was expected to take place earlier, but the 33-year-old suffered a hand injury during training, which delayed the fight by about four months.
In the victory, though, Hooker suffered another injury. After the fight, UFC commentator Joe Rogan asked Hooker if he broke his arm during the fight.
“It’s just a scratch. We’ll have to see,” Hooker said while laughing.

The Tigers logged the franchise’s first-ever combined no-hitter Saturday, thanks in no small part to starter Matt Manning’s 6 2/3 innings on the mound. The no-no was finished by relievers Jason Foley and Alex Lange, but apparently, Manning had no idea that he hadn’t allowed a hit prior to his exit. 
“Honestly, I swear I had no idea,” Manning said after the 2–0 win over the Blue Jays, according to the Detroit Free Press. “After I had a scuffle in the first, I was just trying to eat up innings. We had a two-run lead, so I was trying to protect that lead.

Northwestern University president Michael Schill has issued an update on the investigation into hazing allegations surrounding the Wildcats football program and head coach Pat Fitzgerald. His statement came just a few hours after the entire football team pushed back on grotesque claims made by anonymous former players to the student newspaper.
The situation in Evanston first came to light when the school announced that Fitzgerald will be suspended for two weeks without pay, effective immediately. That decision came down on Friday.

Gregg Popovich appears invigorated to continue his Hall of Fame coaching career with the Spurs. Following the team’s announcement that Popovich had agreed to a five-year contract extension with the team, praise from fans and players came from many directions, including Lakers star LeBron James.
James, who has spent time with Popovich with USA Basketball, has offered plenty of praise for the longtime San Antonio coach, and he took to Twitter to show some love—and to let Pop know that dinner is on him.

Amid detailed information regarding disturbing hazing allegations within the Northwestern football program, university president Michael Schill sent a letter to the school community regarding his decision to suspend head coach Pat Fitzgerald for two weeks without pay.
In the letter, Schill said the initial investigation concluded that there was “no direct evidence” that Fitzgerald knew about the hazing incidents.

Bob Huggins’ time at West Virginia may not be over just yet. Probably, but maybe not.
The 69-year-old college basketball coach claims that he did not resign from the university in wake of an arrest for drunk driving. He wants to return to his role with the Mountaineers, immediately.
His attorney, David A. Campbell, sent a letter to school president E. Gordon Gee on Friday that demands his client be reinstated. Huggins threatened to sue. West Virginia has since replied, confused.
Huggins’ resignation was announced on June 17, after he took over the program in 2007.

The future of Grant Williams was very much up in the air as the NBA offseason began, but as free agency wore on, it appeared the veteran forward, who was a restricted free agent, could have a chance to return to the Celtics after the early signings and trades.
That was not the case when all was said and done, as Williams became part of a sign-and-trade deal that sent him to the Mavericks.
