MLB fans’ calls for robot umpires grew a bit louder on Saturday night after a pair of star players were ruled out on controversial third strike decisions. Both Braves’ Ozzie Albies and Dodgers’ Mookie Betts were questionably called out on strikes in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Albies, in a four-run game in the bottom of the ninth, watched a pitch from Mariners’ Paul Sewald that appeared well outside of the zone. That’s not how home plate umpire Edwin Moscoso saw it, however, as he rung up Atlanta’s infielder for a strikeout.

It’s official, NBA referees are the toughest guys on the court. Exhibit A: Scott Foster, who was trucked by LeBron James to the point of drawing blood.

Two-time MVP Nikola Jokić is the clear headliner for the Nuggets, but Jamal Murray has arguably been the best player on the floor for Denver so far in the Western Conference finals. The 26-year-old guard has taken things to another level so far on Saturday night.
Murray leads all scorers with 30 points in the first half, leading the Nuggets to a 58–55 halftime lead over the Lakers. He’s 13-for-20 from the field and 4-for-8 from three-point range, adding four rebounds in 21 minutes.
A heartwarming moment between Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and a young Blue Jays fan who beat cancer captivated MLB fans on Saturday after the star slugger went out of his way to make the fan’s day mid-game.
During the Blue Jays’ home tilt against the Orioles, Guerrero happened to notice a young fan wearing the jersey of teammate Bo Bichette sitting behind home plate. In the fan’s hands was a hand-made sign that read, “Hey Bo, I beat cancer like you beat the pitcher.

Saturday was the first day of qualifying for the Indy 500. All 34 drivers vying to make the 33-car field had around six hours to lay down 4 laps as fast as they possibly can. The top 12 will compete for pole on Sunday, while the bottom 4 will compete for the three places on the back row of the grid, with one of them going home.
So, the only positions on the grid set in stone Saturday afternoon were P13 through P30.
Clayton Kershaw has been the Dodgers’ only healthy starting pitcher this season.
