Newcastle United have emerged as frontrunners in the race to sign Brentford striker Igor Thiago, according to Caught Offside.
The outlet wrote that “Newcastle United, Tottenham, and Aston Villa are all monitoring his situation closely,” but “Newcastle are believed to be leading the chase.”
The Magpies are reportedly preparing a €40 million bid to secure the 24-year-old Brazilian forward before rival clubs enter the race, although it’s unclear whether a move could happen in January or it will only be sanctioned during next summer’s transfer window.

Desmond Bane is known to talk trash with his opponents on the court, but spiking the basketball out of the air at his opponent as he falls to the floor is a new one from the Orlando Magic star.
The odd sequence took place during the second half of the Magic’s loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night. After chasing down Atlanta’s Onyeka Okongwu, Bane elected to commit a hard foul underneath the basket to make Okongwu earn his two points at the free-throw line.
PROVIDENCE – North Kingstown will enter chasing history while La Salle will be attempting to reclaim a top spot it held for so long.
The Skippers and Rams booked places in the Division I girls soccer title round with semifinal victories Tuesday, Nov. 4 at Rhode Island College.
North Kingstown withstood a couple nervy moments and systematically broke down Lincoln, 3-0, in the nightcap at Alumni Stadium. La Salle opened this clear fall evening scoring the lone goal it needed early in the second half to edge Mt. Hope, 1-0.

Good morning! There’s been a flurry of small activity in the past day or so — Trevor Story has decided to stick around, Jarren Duran and the Sox reached an agreement on a contract number for 2026 (note: this does not really indicate much about a potential trade from the outfield surplus; he still could be out the door), the Sox have declined Liam Hendriks’ option, and now Garrett Crochet and Roman Anthony have been named “finalists” for the Cy Young and Rookie of the Year Awards, respectively.
PARIS (AP) — Luis Díaz wished Paris Saint-Germain right back Achraf Hakimi “a quick return” on Wednesday after a tackle that injured his opponent and earned the Bayern Munich winger a red card in their Champions League encounter.
Díaz scored both goals in a statement 2-1 win over PSG on Tuesday which was Bayern’s 16th straight victory in all competitions. But he was sent off for a reckless challenge on Hakimi just before half time.
Hakimi’s left leg seemed to be trapped as he fell and he was taken off.
“It was a night full of emotions.
🎥 OTD: West Ham pull off a memorable last gasp derby win
We’re taking a step back in time today for a memorable West Ham derby winner.
That came on this date back in the 2006/07 campaign.
West Ham were playing host to Arsenal at Upton Park but it looked set to be a stalemate with the scores level at 0-0 in injury-time.
That was until a late break saw Matthew Etherington pick out Marlon Harewood and the rest, as they say, is history…
Last minute winner in a London derby 🙌

Will Trey Benson be back in Week 10? Latest injury update on Arizona Cardinals RB originally appeared on The Sporting News.

The Arizona Cardinals have been without the services of running back Trey Benson since he was injured in Week 4.
Benson, who was given the starting role after the season-ending injury to James Conner, is recovering from a knee injury that landed him on injured reserve.
Welcome to the confusing and ambiguous starting quarterback situation being authored by Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon.
In the span of 24 hours, Gannon made it clear that …
Like, where is this dude going to land next?
Let’s start at the beginning: Murray’s problem is reportedly a version of a Lisfranc injury he’s been nursing since Week 5. Murray hasn’t played since then, and in the meantime, Brissett has been the starting quarterback.
In the three games Murray has missed, the Cardinals’ offense hasn’t skipped a beat.
We live in the most surprising, and unsurprising times simultaneously. So much so that you can say “Tom Brady’s dog is a clone of his dog that died two years ago,” and you’d just nod and say “yeah, that tracks.”
Yes, Brady does have a cloned version of his beloved dog Lua who died in 2023. Blood was taken from Lua prior to her death, and his new dog, Junie, is a genetic reproduction of the pet. This story doesn’t end here, because the rabbit hole goes deeper, and gets even more bizarre than that.
