As the first game of the Tiger football season comes to a close and Mizzou beats Central Arkansas 61-6, here are my initial thoughts.
But first, here is a box score.

1. Beau Pribula is a legitimate QB
It comes with bad news for Sam Horn, but Beau Pribula showed one way or another that he has to be Missouri’s starter going into next week.
Even with the Tiger offensive line looking pretty bad during the first half (though much better in the second), Pribula was making plays.

Oh, so you thought Nebraska and Cincinnati were going to be the stars of the show for ESPN on Thursday night in Kansas City? Nope, that honor now goes to Taylor Swift, along with her fiancé Travis Kelce. 
It just so happens that Nebraska decided to use one of its home games for the 2025 season and play Cincinnati in Kansas City, which is hoping to become one of the cities that will host a college football season opener over the coming years.

Two of the most accomplished women in mixed martial arts history will collide at Madison Square Garden this November.
It’s long been discussed, but now it’s come to fruition. Women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko and strawweight champion Zhang Weili will collide Nov. 15 at UFC 322 at Madison Square Garden in New York. UFC CEO Dana White announced the bout Thursday evening on Instagram Live.
In what is her second UFC title reign, Shevchenko has won back-to-back title fights over Alexa Grasso and Manon Fiorot.

Just one game into his season, Missouri quarterback Sam Horn left Thursday’s game due to an injury. Appearing to be a lower-body one, Horn left the game after getting tackled on a designed run play. Not what anybody in Columbia wanted to start the year.
As Missouri looks to close out a blowout victory against Central Arkansas, Horn was spotted in a full leg cast inside the tunnel. An official update has not been provided yet, likely waiting until Eli Drinkwitz‘s postgame press conference. But not a positive sign thus far.
