Stephanie Turner, a Senior Women’s Foilest in USA Fencing, protested a transgender opponent by taking a knee. Over the weekend, the 31-year-old Turner was matched against Redmond Sullivan, a trans-identifying biological male, during The Cherry Blossom Open, hosted by USA Fencing.
Due to her actions, Turner was given a “black card,” the most severe penalty in fencing. That meant she was disqualified from the tournament, had to be escorted off the premises, and could face suspension from future events.

Houston Rockets forward Dillon Brooks has been suspended for one game after receiving his 16th technical foul of the season. The NBA announced the punishment Thursday.
Brooks received his latest technical foul early in the Rockets’ win over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. Just five minutes into the first quarter, while being guarded by Collin Sexton, Brooks lost the ball and kicked it, hitting Sexton somewhere below the belt.
The action was initially ruled as a kicked ball, but changed to a technical after review.

The financial terms of the two-year extension that quarterback Geno Smith agreed to with the Raiders were not immediately available on Thursday, but they have now been revealed.
According to multiple reports, Smith stands to make $75 million over the two additional years on the contract. Smith is due $31 million in salary and bonuses in the final year of his current contract.
