The NCAA conducted a review of the officiating that took place during the 2023 Women’s National Championship game between Iowa and LSU and found that it did not meet the normal standard. Those to blame for the poor officiating are the referees themselves, of course, but South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley believes they should be given a pass because the officiating crew was made up of black and brown women.
Staley shared her thoughts on X, formerly Twitter, stating that we shouldn’t “run them over” for no other reason than the color of their skin.

Will Ohtani return to the Angels? Will he choose another team? Here’s the latest on a once-in-a-generation talent.
Did you know they used to play football? I swear! They were rivals and everything. What a world.
By college football standards, the rivalry between the University of Texas and Texas A&M is exactly what you’d expect. First played in 1894 and scheduled annually starting in 1915, the Longhorns and Aggies feature all the standard tropes: UT is the liberal arts university in the urban state capital – the snobs – and A&M is the agricultural, military and engineering school – the country folk, let’s say.

Knicks big man Mitchell Robinson can be added to the long list of players already impressed with Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama through the start of his NBA career. But the praise Robinson sang about Wembanyama after the two met on Wednesday certainly ranks among the most noteworthy.
“He is a great player. He is one of the best in the league right now especially with his height. He can put it on the floor, shoot it, it was going to be a challenge, but we had to do what we had to do,” Robinson said after Wednesday’s matchup, a 126–105 New York win, per Spurs writer Paul Garcia.

James Harden wasn’t great in his first game in Brooklyn as a member of the Clippers, but Harden’s struggles gave Nets announcer Ian Eagle a chance to shine.
Wednesday night was Harden’s second game with his new team, and the Nets won, 100–93, as the former Brooklyn star managed just 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists. He also had five turnovers, one of which was laugh-out-loud funny.
Early in the second quarter, Harden tried to find Paul George with a cross-court pass. But he totally airmailed it and threw it right into Eagle’s lap.

Alex Caruso deserves better than the Bulls.
It is almost impossible to successfully defend Kevin Durant. Even at 35 years old, the superstar forward has one of the most advanced scoring arsenals in the league, a near 7-footer with deep range and soft touch on his jumper who can shoot over defenders with a hesi pull-up jimbo whenever he wants.
Alex Caruso drew the assignment against Durant when the Chicago Bulls hosted the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night.
Ryan Blaney scored the fewest top-five finishes of any champion in NASCAR’s modern era.
