Week 1 of the NFL season is in the books and free-agent quarterback Carson Wentz is still on the proverbial beach. However, he’s doing whatever he can to remind teams that he’s available, and by “whatever” I mean posting some hunting photos.
The former Eagle, Colt, and Commander has been on the market since losing his starting job to Taylor Heinicke after suffering a finger injury.
Well, that bum finger is feeling fine and dandy so Wentz is looking for work and he’s thinking outside the box.

Ronald Acuna Jr. has never been shy about celebrating home runs, and boy oh boy did he take his time after hitting a home run in Tuesday’s game against the Phillies.
Acuna’s in the midst of an MVP caliber season, hitting .333/.415/.586 with 37 home runs and a major league leading 65 stolen bases. Hitting in the impressive Atlanta Braves lineup, Acuna’s also scored 132 runs, leading to 7.1 fWAR, the third highest figure in Major League Baseball.
Even with those awe inspiring stats, Acuna’s been unlucky.
Warriors guard Stephen Curry: often imitated, never duplicated.
In the span of a decade, the Golden State sharpshooter has gone from an All-Star to one of the most influential players in the history of basketball. His style of play has spread throughout the world, turning the three-pointer into the game’s most potent weapon.
Crucially, Curry has also attained a level of celebrity matched by few athletes in the 21st or any century. Like Elvis Presley or Michael Jackson, he is the kind of person for whom having impersonators does not seen out of bounds.
The Gulf South Conference, a Division II league, has suspended six Chowan University players in the wake of a wild brawl after Delta State’s 42–18 win over the Hawks Saturday in Murfreesboro, N.C..
The conference announced the suspensions Monday afternoon, declining to identify the suspended Chowan players by name.
Former Yankees star Alex Rodriguez named three other MLB players who used performance-enhancing drugs during a 2014 meeting with federal agents.
As detailed in an ESPN report by Mike Fish, Rodriguez revealed that he learned the names from Biogenesis founder Anthony Bosch, who provided the slugger and other MLB stars with banned substances. Manny Ramirez and Ryan Braun were named by Rodriguez, in addition to a third All-Star player who wasn’t identified by name in the ESPN story.
The unnamed player never failed a PED test and was thus never suspended.
The Rams are placing quarterback Stetson Bennett on the reserve/non-football injury list, coach Sean McVay announced on Wednesday. McVay declined to reveal the reason for the move out of respect for Bennett.
“That’s all I’m going to say and I really hope that you can please respect my wishes in regards to keeping that in-house,” McVay said, via Rams Wire.
Bennett, who was the Rams fourth-round pick out of Georgia, had been dealing with a shoulder injury, but McVay said that this move is separate from that injury.
The amount of unhappiness displayed by Oklahoma fans when Lincoln Riley departed the program to become USC’s football coach after the 2021 season is well-documented.
Riley, who is now in his second campaign with the Trojans, registered his third win of the 2023 season when USC dismantled Stanford, 56–10, on Saturday. While Riley’s main focus is elevating the Pac-12 program these days, he never forgets about his tenure in Norman, Okla.
However, right after his Oklahoma exit, Riley revealed that his family received threats and suspicious packages from multiple angry Sooner fans.
Rangers starting pitcher Max Scherzer is expected to miss the remainder of the 2023 MLB season after sustaining a low-grade strain of his teres major muscle, general manager Chris Young told reporters Wednesday.
Scherzer exited his start on Tuesday during the sixth inning after coming up with an injury after throwing a pitch.
Young indicated that Scherzer’s season is over, and it’s “unlikely” he’ll play in the postseason, per Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News.
This is a breaking news story and will be updated.
The Pat McAfee Show moved to ESPN this month, but it seems the host still is adapting to some of the new rules his program has to abide by.
During Tuesday’s episode, McAfee accidentally let an F-bomb slip during the broadcast, something he’d previously expressed that members of the show would be prohibited from doing.
When discussing the injury to Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and the subsequent status update provided by coach Robert Saleh, McAfee dropped an inadvertent F-bomb, to which he had a priceless reaction after realizing his gaffe.
