MEXICO CITY (AP) — Dennis Bouanga scored a late penalty to help LAFC draw 1-1 with defending champion Cruz Azul on Tuesday and advance to the CONCACAF Champions Cup semifinals.
Gabriel Fernandez converted a penalty kick in the 18th to put the home team ahead, but Bouanga equalized with a right-foot shot into the bottom left corner deep in stoppage time.

Nashville SC is without striker Sam Surridge for the second leg of its CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinal series against Club América.
Per a Nashville SC spokesperson, Surridge is “day-to-day” with a hamstring injury and did not travel with the team to Mexico City. Surridge has scored eight goals in 11 matches across all competitions in 2026, leading the team.
In place of Surridge, Warren Madrigal started at forward alongside Hany Mukhtar and Cristian Espinoza for Nashville, which tied América 0-0 in the first leg at Geodis Park on April 7.
NEW YORK (AP) — Mike Trout hit another go-ahead home run, and this time Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees didn’t come back.
Finding his power groove after a mechanical tweak of his swing, Trout hit a 445-foot home run, the first of three Angels long balls in a five-pitch span of the first inning off Ryan Weathers, and Los Angeles beat the Yankees 7-1 on Tuesday night.
Trout has three home runs in the first two games of the four-game series, raising the three-time AL MVP’s season total to five. Jo Adell and Jorge Soler followed with home runs.
On Tuesday night, 5,000 fans were a part of history when the Wilson Warbirds beat the Hill City Howlers 7-5 in their inaugural game at Wilson Ballpark.
“I just could not foresee them putting a stadium this nice in such a small space,” said lifelong Wilson resident Allan Overton.
The Wilson Warbirds, formerly known as the Carolina Mudcats, were located in Zebulon. The team rebranded and relocated to a brand new, $64 million stadium in Wilson.
Six-time MLB All-Star Prince Fielder throws out the first pitch at Wilson Ballpark to his son, Jadyn, who is an infielder on the Warbirds.
