Scottie Scheffler will enter next week’s PGA Championship without having played a competitive round in nearly a month. The World No. 1 did not commit to playing in this week’s Wells Fargo Championship, a signature event and the final tuneup opportunity before the year’s second major, as he and wife Meredith continue to be on baby watch.

Klay Thompson is coming off arguably the worst season of his NBA career, but he’s still expected to get plenty of interest once he hits free agency this offseason. On Monday, the basketball world got the first hints of that interest.
Shams Charania reported for The Athletic that Thompson and the Orlando Magic are showing “mutual interest” as the offseason rapidly approaches. The Magic were eliminated from the NBA playoffs on Sunday by the Cleveland Cavaliers, while Thompson’s season ended in the play-in tournament at the hands of the Sacramento Kings.
The MLB may have just found a new content machine in Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh.
In the top of the third inning of last night’s game against the San Francisco Giants, Marsh was mic’d up and doing an in-game interview with the ESPN crew. At the conclusion of their discussion, David Cone posed a question from a fan to Marsh.
The question was, if Marsh was to start a rock band with any of his Phillies teammates, who would be in it and what would he name it.
Now most guys might be caught off guard by this prompt.
Brandel Chamblee is taking one of NBC’s analyst chairs for next month’s U.S. Open.
The network had been rotating commentators through its main booth all season and plans had been unclear as to who would take the chairs for NBC’s biggest golf broadcast, but a release Monday morning announced the lineup.
Dan Hicks and Chamblee will work together, as will Mike Tirico and Brad Faxon, and the leading pairs will alternate holes in NBC’s main broadcast windows.
Inoue keeps making his case as best pound-for-pound boxer in the world.
Naoya Inoue isn’t exactly a household name, but make no mistake he’s the most terrifying boxer that only boxing fans really know about. Inoue defended his WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring super bantamweight titles on Monday in Japan, relegating challenger Luis Nery to the fate so many others have suffered before.
FOLDED HIM.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with “The Roast of Tom Brady,” a Netflix special that premiered Sunday night. Overall, it was a terrific show. Noticeably absent, though, was Eli Manning.
Peyton Manning, Eli’s brother, showed up and roasted Brady along with many other celebrities. Eli Manning, of course, twice led the New York Giants to Super Bowl wins over Brady and the New England Patriots.
So, there were plenty of Eli Manning jokes to go around.
1. Do I feel vindicated because I spent tons of time on the SI Media Podcast the past two weeks pumping up The Roast of Tom Brady and explaining to Sal Licata during our “Traina Thoughts” segment that it was going to be a must-watch?
Yes. Yes, I do.
And big shoutout to TopShotYoda who acknowledged my effort.
As for the roast itself, it was even better than I expected and I had very high expectations. Here are my thoughts.
• It was an interesting strategy for the producers to use the two big guns, Jeff Ross and Nikki Glaser, right out of the gate.
Watt ending his retirement is wild enough to actually work.
No team in the NFL has turned its fortunes around faster than the Texans. Fantastic drafting in 2023, paired with incredible coaching pushed Houston from being a cellar dweller into one of the best teams in the AFC. Now they’re looking to take the next step, becoming a legitimate contender — and Texans legend J.J. Watt is open to the idea of coming back if needed.
Speaking to the media at his annual charity softball game, Watt said he’s informed coach DeMeco Ryans that he’s willing to step in if needed.
Good morning, I’m Dan Gartland. I’m not surprised Tom Brady didn’t love all the jokes at his Netflix roast.

When the Cleveland Cavaliers traded a king’s ransom for Donovan Mitchell in 2022, it was with games like Sunday’s Game 7 against the Orlando Magic in mind.
Few players in the NBA can score in bunches like Mitchell can. Since he entered the league in 2017, only eight players have had more 40-point games (regular season and postseason) than Mitchell.

Brandel Chamblee will serve as lead analyst for NBC Sports at this year’s U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2.
NBC Sports has decided who will serve as the lead analyst for the U.S. Open, its most significant golf production of the year.
Brandel Chamblee, the Golf Channel commentator who is better prepared and more opinionated than most, will sit alongside Dan Hicks, Mike Tirico, and Brad Faxon in a four-man booth.
