Finally, the actual 305 college football team makes its’ presence known
Florida International University has always been the little brother. Whether it be losing by 40 to FAU in the Shula Bowl or even getting people to recognize it as the actual school located in Miami, FIU has always been on the losing side of these battles.
That is, until today. FIU announced a deal with rapper Pitbull to name their football stadium after Mr. Worldwide.

Kirk Herbstreit doesn’t want to see men competing in women’s sports.
The debate about males in women’s sports and transgender athletes is a growing one, and it seems like people are becoming more comfortable taking a stand and drawing a line in the sand.
The basic reality of the situation is shockingly simple. Males are born with XY chromosomes, are stronger, faster and bigger and while a person can identify as a woman, it doesn’t change the chromosomal makeup of a person.

Florida International’s football program has found a unique way to raise money for the athletic department, thanks to Mr. Worldwide, Pitbull. 
As programs around the country look for different ways to raise money in this new era of college athletics, FIU is handing over the naming rights to their football stadium to recording artist Pitbull. Yes, I know this sounds pretty weird, given that a number of programs around the country are selling naming rights to stadiums to corporate sponsors, but FIU has gotten very creative with this new venture.

Charley Hull has been informed she cannot smoke while playing in the Olympic tournament here this week and the Englishwoman fears the ban might hamper her pursuit of gold.

The PGA Tour has a new sponsor for the annual Quail Hallow Club event in Charlotte, N.C. as they announced the new deal.
The PGA Tour announced on Tuesday the name of the new sponsor for its annual Charlotte event.
Truist Financial Corporation, Quail Hallow Club and the Tour signed a seven-year agreement to become the next title sponsor.
It will no longer be the Wells Fargo Championship but the Truist Championship.
Quail Hallow will continue to be the host venue with the exception of 2025.

E. Coli levels in the water remain dangerously high, and athletes are falling ill.
The most predictably nightmare of the Paris Olympics is coming to fruition quicker than anyone imagined. Athletes who swam in the Seine as part of the triathlon are now falling ill, a possible byproduct of spending extended time in the filthy river water — which organizers assured people would be safe for the games.
At this time there is no official confirmation that the Seine caused the illness, but the timing is extremely suspicious.

Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, the current vice president, has announced Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate following weeks of speculation. In recent days Walz was among many potential selections, along with Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear. But Vice President Harris zeroed in on Walz to be her choice.
Walz’s journey to this point starts, in many ways, on the gridiron.

The U.S. is assured a medal, but a first Olympic gold since 1996 is still the goal for an American team that has already beaten Germany at the Olympics.

The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team plays Germany in the women’s semifinal on August 6.
